Rebilas-USA TODAY SportsThe Philadelphia Eagles and Chris Long have agreed to push back the $1 million roster bonus he was set to receive today (Wednesday, May 1) until the first day veterans report for 2019 training camp, according to NFL insider Field Yates. This delay gives Long even more time to decide if he wants to retire or not.Long hasn’t totally closed the door shut on returning to the Eagles. But based on what he’s said recently, it seems like he’s leaning towards not coming back to Philly in 2019. Long told the Eagles to “plan like I won’t be back.” He also tweeted these things last week: Putting Long aside, the Eagles currently have Brandon Graham Cameron Johnston Jersey , Derek Barnett, Vinny Curry, Josh Sweat, Daeshon Hall, and Joe Ostman under contract at defensive end. The team also selected Penn State edge rusher Shareef Miller with a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The Eagles could really afford to add Long to their current group of pass rushers but it sounds like they’re not offering him the role that Long desires. And so retirement seems like the more likely option, unless Long changes his mind. There’s always the possibility the Eagles could look to trade Long to a landing spot he’s comfortable with. But it’s unclear if that option is really in play.If they’re sure that Long won’t be back, the Eagles could look to sign another pass rusher in free agency. Ezekiel Ansah http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-paul-worrilow-jersey , for example, is still on the market and signing him after May 7 won’t impact Philadelphia’s compensatory pick formula. The first day that veterans report for Eagles training camp will be at some point in late July or early August. We’ll find out more about Long’s decision by then.UPDATE: Long tweeted some more stuff today. Good luck in Jacksonville, BDN."The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing free agent quarterback Nick Foles, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport. The contract is said to be worth $88 million over four years with just over $50 million guaranteed. The max value is reportedly worth $102 million!Foles to the Jags has been one of the league’s worst kept secret approaching NFL free agency. The Daily News and ESPN previously reported Foles was expected to sign with Jacksonville, who employ his former quarterback coach in John DeFilippo. Foles leaves Philadelphia as an absolute legend. We’ll always remember his heroics en route to becoming the first Super Bowl MVP in Eagles franchise history. He was truly a great backup to have behind Carson Wentz over the past two seasons. It’ll be interesting to see how Foles fares with the Jaguars. His first stint outside of Philly didn’t go so well. After being traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2015, Foles struggled and got benched for Case Keenum in November. The Rams cut Foles and he considered retirement before ultimately reuniting with Andy Reid in Kansas City as Alex Smith’s backup in 2016. Foles then came back to Philly in 2017 and, well Womens Richard Rodgers Jersey , you know the rest. It’s safe to say Philly will be rooting for Foles’ success down in Jacksonville. It helps that the Eagles aren’t set to play the Jaguars again until the 2022 NFL regular season. Foles signing a big contract with the Jags means the Eagles will potentially be receiving a third-round compensatory pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Thanks again, BDN.Meanwhile, the reaction over at Big Cat Country ...

to the New York Giants on Sept. 23 Jalen Ramsey Jersey , they appeared to be headed for a second straight losing season.Instead, the Texans (11-5) won their next nine games and 11 of their last 13, capped by Sunday’s 20-3 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, to clinch the AFC South title.“We have a lot bigger goals,” J.J. Watt said. “I have a lot bigger goals but it’s good. Especially after starting 0-3 and everybody writes you off. Guys in the locker room believed. Guys in the locker room never gave up.”Deshaun Watson threw for 234 yards and ran for a touchdown and DeAndre Hopkins had 147 yards receiving in the victory. The Texans will make their fifth playoff appearance after winning the division for the fifth time in franchise history. Houston returns to the postseason for the third time in four years after bouncing back a 4-12 campaign in which Watson and Watt suffered season-ending injuries.“The way we started out, it’s a testament to the players in that locker room,” coach Bill O’Brien said. “They’ve always hung tough. And to go from 0-3 (and then) go 11-2 in this league is pretty tough to do. Give credit to the players.”Houston built a 14-point lead in the first half behind rushing touchdowns by Watson and Lamar Miller and made it 20-3 on a 24-yard field goal with about 11 minutes left. The Jaguars had a chance to cut the lead later in the fourth quarter, but Blake Bortles was intercepted in the end zone by Andre Hal.Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement that his director of football operations, Tom Coughlin Womens Brandon Linder Jersey , has decided to retain coach Doug Marrone and general manager Dave Caldwell — even though the team finished in last place a year after playing in the AFC title game. Khan said he agreed with the decision.“We get judged on wins and losses,” Marrone said. “Obviously, this year, I didn’t do a good job. Period. I’m never going to step away from that. I’m happy with the faith because I do believe I will get this right.”The Jaguars (5-11) returned to Bortles as starter after benching the quarterback following a loss to Buffalo on Nov. 25. But he did little to get Jacksonville’s offense going, with the Jaguars managing one first down in the opening half and finishing with six. Bortles was 15 of 28 for 107 yards.Watt sacked Bortles 1½ times to finish with 16 this year. Watt has four seasons with 15 or more sacks, second most in NFL history to Reggie White (five). The performance by Hopkins gives him 1,572 yards receiving and 115 receptions this season, both career highs. His catch total tied Andre Johnson (2008) for the most in franchise history.“A lot of guys have amazing seasons, but their team isn’t where it should be http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-niles-paul-jersey ,” Hopkins said. “So I think everything I’ve been doing has correlated to my team winning, which is even better.”KEY PLAYSDede Westbrook muffed a punt late in the first quarter, and Zach Cunningham recovered. Watson capitalized with a 5-yard scramble that made it 10-3 early in the second quarter. The Texans faced a third-and-6 late in the second quarter when Myles Jack deflected a pass and Hopkins grabbed it for a 13-yard gain. Miller ran 7 yards for a touchdown on the next play, dragging two defenders into the end zone to make it 17-3.BAD BEHAVIORCoughlin had strong words for running backs Leonard Fournette and T.J. Yeldon after the game.Fournette, who was inactive because of foot and ankle injuries, and Yeldon were caught by TV cameras sitting on the bench and chatting while the offense had the ball. They were clearly disengaged with teammates and coaches.“I am disappointed in the behavior today from T.J. Yeldon and Leonard Fournette,” Coughlin said. “They were disrespectful, selfish and their behavior was unbecoming that of a professional football player.”TEXANS NUMBERSHopkins is the fourth player in NFL history (Jerry Rice, Marvin Harrison and Brandon Marshall) to have at least 100 receptions http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-keelan-cole-jersey , 1,500 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns in multiple seasons. He had 111 receptions for 1,521 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2015.Watson, who ran for 66 yards on Sunday, is the first player in NFL history to throw for at least 4,000 yards (4,165) and 25 touchdowns (26) and rush for 500 yards (551) and five touchdowns in a season.ANDRE AND DEANDREHopkins brought Johnson to the podium with him after the game, and the retired receiver raved about his protege.“One thing that I appreciate about him is when he first came into the league he asked me about things he needed to do to better his game,” Johnson said. “He took that to a whole other level. To see what he’s accomplished Womens Marcell Dareus Jersey , what he’s doing out on the field, it’s amazing.”INJURIESJaguars: Jacksonville was without starting cornerback A.J. Bouye (toe injury).Texans: Starting cornerback Johnathan Joseph sat out with a neck injury.UP NEXTJaguars: Jacksonville must decide what to do with Bortles before next season. Most believe he won’t return in 2019 after going 24-49 as a starter in five seasons. The third overall pick in the 2014 draft also is due to count $21 million against the salary cap, and the Jags can save $9.5 million by cutting him with a post-June 1 designation.Texans: Will host the winner of Sunday night’s Colts-Titans game next weekend, barring a tie between those teams. Releasing Bortles saves the Jaguars $4.5 million in salary cap space with a dead money hit of $16.5 million. While it has not been announced how the cut is being applied just yet, the team can designate Bortles a post-June 1 cut, splitting his dead money between 2019 and 2020 Josh Lambo Jersey , moving the total cap savings to $9.5 million. As mentioned, the move was expected by quite a few this offseason, despite the fact that Bortles was fresh off a new deal last offseason. Following a 2017 NFL season that had the Jaguars on the door step of the Super Bowl, the team gave Bortles a new deal in the hopes that the light had finally come on. Despite a quick start to the 2018 season, the wheels seemed to come off against the Kansas City Chiefs and never got right thanks to massive injury hits on the offensive side of the ball. Bortles was benched mid-season in favor of Cody Kessler, who didn’t fair any better, and it became clear the Jaguars were going to be moving on.Bortles was given one last start in the final game of the season and predictably it ended in disaster. He finished the 2018 season with 13 passing touchdowns and 11 interceptions, more in line with what his numbers had been through his career outside of 2015.

SB Nation FanPulseLatest NewsNewsIs kicker the Chicago Bears’ top draft need?New,16commentsCDTWelcome to SB Nation FanPulse — a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the offseason, we send 32 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Bears fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse. The NFL draft is just days away, so SB Nation sent out a question asking their FanPulse members to pick the top need for each team. Chicago Bears’ fans, with memories of the double-doink not yet faded away, went with kicker... I’m on record of being against drafting a kicker, unless the kicker is a can’t miss prospect with a booming leg, but in the undrafted free agent market, I certainly hope the Bears can add a guy once the draft is over. Right now the Bears have untested Redford Jones http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-jonathan-bullard-jersey , Elliott Fry, and Chris Blewitt at kicker, but I think a four man competition could be in the works for this offseason. The consensus top three kicking prospects available this year are Utah’s Matt Gay, LSU’s Cole Tracy, and Austin Seibert from Oklahoma. The Bears have met with all three of those guys as well as Marc Orozco from Grambling State and Parker Shaunfield from Southern Miss, so they’ve been doing their homework. You can check out all the players the Bears are reported to have met with my perusing Aaron Leming’s prospect visit tracker right here. Here’s how our FanPulse voters voted this week. I’m guessing that 20% other was made up of a lot of fans wanting a running back. (AP) — When NFL officials visited Bears camp to show a film on rule changes aimed at player safety, inside linebacker Danny Trevathan realized he’d have to alter his style.“Shoot,” Trevathan said. “I was on the film.”One of last season’s most physical and controversial plays landed Trevathan a one-game suspension, and joined several other incidents of brutality in causing the NFL to curtail the use of helmets in tackling.Trevathan’s helmet-leading hit knocked Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams out of a Sept. 28 game and resulted in a two-game suspension — later reduced to one on appeal.Possibly more than any other Bears player, Trevathan must now keep his physical, aggressive style in check.“I’ve got to be able to move on from it and learn the new techniques,” Trevathan said. “The game is constantly changing. That’s what we get paid to do, I guess. I’ve got to take that in my play.”Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio believes it’s a matter of accepting change for all defensive players, and eventually they’ll adjust as with other rules.“One of the most non-football rules ever put into football was the 5-yard illegal contact rule,” Fangio said. “If coaches from the 60s rose from the dead today they would want to go back in their grave with that rule.“And we’ve adjusted.”Bears coach Matt Nagy is seeing signs of Trevathan controlling his play.“There’s a leadership element, which goes without saying Bobby Massie Jersey ,” Nagy said. “There’s a physicality that he brings.”The Bears had what Nagy called their most physical practice of camp Sunday, complete with a full-contact red-zone period. And Nagy noticed Trevathan pulling back at one point when he could have easily smashed rookie wide receiver Anthony Miller.“There was a play today where he could have knocked (Miller) into the stands and he decided not to, and that was in a live period,” Nagy said. “So to me, when you see that, I’m going to point that out to the team tonight because that wasn’t stupidity. That was a veteran being smart, not taking out one of our guys.“He knows it’s live, he knows he doesn’t have to prove anything, so just play smart.”Trevathan also views playing under control as a benefit to his own health. This is important because Trevathan has missed 10 games the last two seasons due to injuries, and the defense suffered then without its field general. The effect on the Bears’ defense without him is obvious. In 2016, the Bears allowed 152 yards rushing a game without Trevathan starting seven games http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-jordan-howard-jersey , and 98.4 yards in nine games when he started. Last year they allowed an average of 97.5 yards rushing in 11 games with Trevathan and 140 yards a game in five without him.“It’s imperative that I be on that field,” Trevathan said. “I’m not going to let my team down anymore. That comes with a responsibility: just taking care of yourself.“You know plays happen; you get injured. It’s only going to make the defense better when I’m out there because I’m going to push and I’m going to work my tail off and I’m not going to let anybody beat me.”Like the rest of the Bears, Trevathan watched former Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher get inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame over the weekend. Trevathan gained insight from Urlacher’s speech, particularly in regards to overcoming adversity and being a good teammate.“That’s one of the main reasons why I came here — the tradition at linebacker,” said Trevathan, who left Denver as a free agent after 2015. “It’s not an easy job, but like he (Urlacher) said, it’s like the tough stuff makes you grow.“I’m here for a reason, and I like playing linebacker for the Chicago Bears.”NOTES: Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel missed Sunday’s practice after suffering a foot injury in Saturday’s session. Nagy called it “day to day” and not serious.

COSTA MESA Womens Kellen Winslow Jersey , Calif. (AP) —now that the spotlight is on them while Derwin James is out with a broken bone in his right foot.As the Chargers wrapped up training camp on Thursday, James was undergoing surgery for a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal. The procedure was performed by Dr. Robert Anderson in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Chargers will place their All-Pro safety on injured reserve when final roster cuts are made after next week’s final preseason game. James — who would have the designation to return — is likely to miss three months, meaning he may not return until the final five games of the regular season.“We’ll just hold the fort down until he gets back,” Phillips said. We have (defensive backs) who are interchangeable, versatile and can play many different positions. That’s what helps put us in winning positions late in the game. We just roll with the punches and just keep going.”Phillips has moved into the starting spot at strong safety and Watkins will be the backup at both safety spots after he missed last season with a knee injury. Both are expected to see playing time on Saturday when the Chargers host Seattle in their third preseason game.Phillips is one of the league’s top special-teams players. He led the league in tackles last season and was a first-team, All-Pro selection as a specialist. But he has also proven to be valuable in the secondary with 11 starts over the past two seasons. In last season’s AFC wild-card round win over Baltimore, Phillips had an interception and a fumble recovery as the Chargers used eight defensive backs for all but one play.“It’s not necessarily thinking of replacing Derwin. It’s, ‘Hey, there was a little bump in the road. We have to fix it, whatever it may be,’ and then keep it moving http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-lance-alworth-jersey ,” Phillips said. “When you start thinking like you’re replacing somebody or you have to live up to what somebody has done, that’s when all the bad stuff starts to happen.”Watkins is having a strong camp after tearing the ACL in his knee during the preseason last year. He was in for 28 snaps last Sunday against New Orleans, which came a year to the day he suffered the knee injury. The fifth-year defensive back celebrated his return in style with an interception at the Chargers 3-yard line as the Saints were driving. He was getting reps at free safety and nickel corner before James’ injury, but has started to see time at strong safety this week.“I saw myself as a true corner coming out of college. Tackling in college was a little different than the NFL, but when I was in Philly I did a good job at honing in on my safety and getting better at tackling,” he said.Even though Rayshawn Jenkins has solidified his starting spot at free safety, the Chargers are eager to see what second-round pick Nasir Adderley can do. The rookie has been sidelined most of training camp because of a hamstring injury, but has started to see some snaps in practice.Coach Anthony Lynn said it was unlikely Adderley would play on Saturday with the hopes of getting him on the field for the Aug. 29 preseason finale at San Francisco. CARSON, Calif. (AP) — Although Philip Rivers has only faced the Seattle Seahawks three times in games that count, he knows nearly everything about their defense because of Gus Bradley.Rivers used that know-how to get the Los Angeles Chargers off to a strong start in their first victory of the preseason.Melvin Gordon rushed for a short touchdown to cap a strong 70-yard opening drive by the Bolts’ first-teamers, and Rivers went 6 of 7 for 62 yards in Los Angeles’ 24-14 preseason victory over the Seahawks on Saturday night.Rivers played only two series in his first action of the preseason, but he had six consecutive completions. He also made a few plays by capably eluding the Seattle rush and connecting with strong throws on the run.None of it surprised Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. Bradley Dan Fouts Jersey , the Chargers’ defensive coordinator, ran Carroll’s defense in Seattle for four years, and Los Angeles’ scheme is awfully similar.“Philip had us a couple of times,” Carroll said. “He knew what he was going against, and he did a great job. He plays against our defense every day (in practice).”Russell Wilson was 13 of 21 for 193 yards while playing the entire first half for the Seahawks (0-2). His offense was limited to two field goals by execution mistakes in the red zone, and Wilson was repeatedly flushed from the pocket by Melvin Ingram while the Chargers’ destructive pass rusher had an outstanding first half.David Moore made the Seahawks’ biggest play of the first half, hauling in a 52-yard catch between two Chargers downfield. Seattle could have kept it closer, but Chris Carson had a touchdown run waved off by a penalty and later fumbled at the goal line in the first half.“In the red zone in particular, we’ve got to stay on schedule,” Wilson said. “That’s the lesson we learned from tonight, but the great thing was really the score should have been 21-7 pretty early. First three drives, we get three touchdown opportunities Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , and that’s what we look for. We go to the truth of what we did and where we can get better.”JJ Jones returned a punt 72 yards for a touchdown late in the first half, and Mike Williams caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from Geno Smith in the second half of the Chargers’ preseason home opener in their second season at compact StubHub Center. Coach Anthony Lynn was infuriated by 14 penalties, but otherwise pleased.“Classic example of bend-but-don’t-break defense,” Lynn said. “They didn’t let them in the end zone, and that’s the most important thing.”Smith then made a strong argument for the Chargers’ backup job, going 6 of 8 for 85 yards. His TD pass came on an eye-opening catch by Williams, who jumped over Seattle cornerback Akeem King and hauled in the first score of his NFL career for a 21-6 lead.Seahawks rookie Alex McGough led a solid drive in the final minutes, hitting Malik Turner with a 12-yard touchdown pass.Robert Aguayo hit a 39-yard field goal with 40 seconds left, boosting his bid to win the Chargers’ kicking job.BIG MIKEWilliams was the seventh overall pick in last year’s draft, but the Clemson product’s career got off to a slow start because of injuries. He is healthy and eager to become a force in the Chargers’ already bulging receiving corps alongside Pro Bowler Keenan Allen, Travis Benjamin and Tyrell Williams.“It’s good to see Mike take the drill to the field,” Lynn said. “He’s playing with a lot of confidence right now.”KICKING INJones made another argument for a spot on the regular-season roster with a spectacular burst through the heart of the Seahawks’ punt coverage team on the way to a score. The undrafted free agent from West Georgia has turned heads throughout camp.“That was a backbreaker Joey Bosa Jersey , and the difference in the game,” Carroll said.INJURIESSeahawks: RG D.J. Fluker dislocated his finger, but Carroll doesn’t think it’s serious: “He’s an offensive lineman. I think he can handle that.”Chargers: S Jaylen Watkins started, but was helped off the field late in the first half with a right knee injury. Ingram fell on his teammate on the play, and Watkins couldn’t put weight on his leg. He will have an MRI exam Sunday, Lynn said.ANTHEM UPDATEChargers left tackle Russell Okung raised his right fist during the national anthem. Three Seahawks stayed off the field during the anthem for the second consecutive week: offensive tackle Duane Brown, defensive end Branden Jackson and defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson.UP NEXTSeahawks: At the Minnesota Vikings on Aug. 24.Chargers: Host the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 25.

practice squad addition The Eagles have already made several roster moves since “finalizing” their 53-man roster and filling their 10-man practice squad Brandon Brooks Jersey , and on Saturday, we learned the team is reportedly adding wide receiver Braxton Miller to the PS pending a physical. Miller is a former third-round draft pick out of Ohio State, and after two seasons with the Houston Texans, was released just ahead of the regular season. The wideout was a quarterback in college, and while he always had the athleticism to play a skill position, he wasn’t forced into the move until suffering a shoulder injury in 2014.Following his injury, he made the move to an h-back position for the Buckeyes, and was often used in wildcat formations when he returned to the field in 2015. He didn’t put up a ton of crazy stats that season, but with a few highlight-worthy plays, his potential was obvious.Miller didn’t have the best situation when he was drafted by Houston, especially as a young player at his position. With quarterback controversies and poor play stifling the Texans offense the past couple years, the receiver wasn’t able develop into the playmaker he should be. A number of injuries and setbacks also affected his production in Texas, but he’s healthy and ready to get back to work.So what should you know about the receiver heading into his third season? 1.He’s quick and agileMiller was far too talented to call it a career after his shoulder injury http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-malik-jackson-jersey , and he showed off some of his agility and quick feet during the 2016 NFL Combine. He ran a 4.50 second 40-yard dash, and was a top performer in the 3-cone drill (6.65 sec), 20-yard shuttle (4.07 sec), and 60-yard dash (10.84).One NFC executive at the combine said of Miller, “He’s going to go by at least the third round because of his speed and athleticism. He’s got some traits that will get him drafted early and a team will worry about coaching him up after they get him in.” The problem, was that Miller ended up being drafted by the Texans and lacked the sort of veteran position group and top-tier position coaching that he will have with the Eagles. Being able to train alongside Mike Wallace and Alshon Jeffery should go a long way in finally helping Miller take the next step in his development.2. After-the-catch yardageMiller rushed for more than 1,000 yards in 2012 and 2013 when he was still a quarterback for the Buckeyes, and while he doesn’t quite have the size to be a running back in the NFL, he does have the elusiveness to make defenders miss in the open field and take it to the house. In his rookie season with Houston, Miller suited up for 10 games and nabbed 15 receptions. Of the 99 receiving yards in 2016, 49 of those were after the catch, and then again in 2017, 71 of his 162 receiving yards came after catch. He’s the kind of player that is super fun to watch because anything can happen once he gets the ball in his hands.3. He’s got some special teams experienceI don’t think Miller’s big contribution will be on special teams Womens Timmy Jernigan Jersey , but he’s shown that he is capable of contributing on punt and kick returns. He fielded three kickoffs his rookie season for 41 yards, and a 17-yard long run, and three punt returns in 2017 for 12 yards and five fair catches.4. Special play contributionsWith his quarterback experience, he would also be the perfect player to help the offense when Doug Pederson calls fun plays like the Philly Special and Philly Philly. Not that Nelson Agholor’s throw in Week 1 wasn’t effective, but it doesn’t hurt having someone with a proven history making plays like that in the Eagles’ arsenal. 5. Can read a defenseMiller wasn’t just a college quarterback, he was a great college quarterback. He essentially served as Ohio State’s starting QB and a running back during his sophomore season, claiming 3,310 total offensive yards that year. All of this is to say that he has a unique perspective when reading defenses. He’s able to see the field, identify running lanes, and is a real monster in the open field. At 6’1, 215 pounds, he’s got the size to win contested catches, and just needs to work on sharpening up his route running. With a different view of a defense Stefen Wisniewski Jersey , and his ability to read defenses and maximize his yards after catch, Braxton Miller has a very ceiling that he hasn’t even come close to reaching yet. Schefter adds the “Eagles have been looking to add safety help, and Malcolm Jenkins has been a no show this off-season - with no end in sight.”Schefter previously reported that he expects Jenkins to miss the Eagles’ mandatory minicamp next week. If that’s the case, Jenkins can be fined around $80,000. This would show Jenkins is serious about demanding an adjustment to his contract. With Jenkins missing OTAs and Rodney McLeod still recovering from ACL/MCL surgery, the Eagles are currently trotting out Andrew Sendejo and Tre Sullivan as their first team safeties. That’s not ideal. The Eagles signing Cyprien could be especially bad news for Sendejo. If the former Vikings safety is on the Eagles’ 53-man roster past Week 10, Philadelphia will lose a 2020 fourth-round compensatory pick they’re set to receive for losing Jordan Hicks in free agency. In addition to preserving that draft pick, the Eagles could also clear $800,000 in cap space by cutting Sendejo before Week 1. Signing Cyprien won’t count against the Eagles’ comp pick formula because he was released earlier this offseason (and it’s after the May 8 deadline anyway).Cyprien, who turns 29 in July, originally entered the league as the No. 33 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. He started and played in 60 games for the Jaguars before leaving Jacksonville to sign with the Titans in 2017. Cyprien played 10 games with Tennessee before tearing his ACL in August prior to the 2018 season. The Eagles are likely working Cyprien out in part to check up on his recovery. When healthy http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-carson-wentz-jersey , Cyprien has been a productive player. He has 506 career tackles, 16 passes defensed, three sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles. For what it’s worth, Cyprien ranked 86th out of 94 safeties graded by Pro Football Focus in 2017. He was better in 2016 as he finished 32nd out of 103. The 6-0, 223 pound Cyprien has been stronger as a run defender than he has been in coverage. The Eagles’ interest in Cyprien could be somewhat of a leverage play when it comes to Jenkins holding out. Something along the lines of: “We’ll just roll with this guy while you’re missing time.” Of course, Cyprien isn’t nearly the player that Jenkins is.Ideally, Cyprien fits as a third safety for the Eagles. He could fill the Corey Graham role and allow the Eagles to cut Sendejo in order to keep that 2020 comp pick. Cyprien would also provide insurance if Jenkins and/or McLeod get hurt. The Eagles aren’t the only team interested in Cyprien. The Colts also worked him out on Monday. Cyprien left Indianapolis without a contract; we’ll soon see if that’s the case with his Philly visit as well.

The Jaguars‘ defense had more than enough against one of the NFL’s sad-sack teams.Three interceptions. A defensive touchdown. A dominant performance by the line. All of it added up to a soothing win for Jacksonville Donte Moncrief Jersey , given the way the week had played out.Gardner Minshew led a fourth-quarter touchdown drive for the lead, and Yannick Ngakoue returned an interception 23 yards to clinch a 27-17 victory Sunday over the winless Cincinnati Bengals.Article continues below ...The Jaguars (3-4) managed only field goals by still-perfect Josh Lambo through three quarters before their rookie quarterback and their depleted defense made all the game-turning plays at the end.“We’re ready to keep the train rolling,” safety Ronnie Harrison, who had the final interception. The win capped a week in which the Jaguars traded the disgruntled Ramsey to the Rams for three draft picks, a potentially disruptive move. Their defense responded with one of its best performances, picking off Andy Dalton three times in the fourth quarter to put it away.Could this be a turning point?“Shoot, what do you think?” cornerback D.J. Hayden said. “I believe so.”There’s no turning point in sight for the Bengals, who fell to 0-7 for the first time in 11 years. First-year coach Zac Taylor is still waiting for that first win, and things are getting so bad — especially on offense — that it’s time to start looking at doing things differently.“What we just put on the field is not good enough http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.j.-bouye-jersey ,” said Taylor, who also calls the offensive plays.Minshew was solid a week after his so-so performance in a 13-6 loss to the Saints. The rookie completed 15 of 32 for 255 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown pass to Keelan Cole for a 17-10 lead early in the fourth quarter. Minshew also scrambled for 48 yards. The Bengals were booed repeatedly throughout another inept performance. Cincinnati managed only 33 yards rushing — all by Dalton. Myles Jack picked off Dalton at the Jacksonville 10 to preserve the late lead, and Ngakoue’s interception return off a floating screen pass put it away. When Ngakoue saw running back Giovani Bernard in the game, he figured Cincinnati was going to throw a screen pass and got in position to pick it off.“I noticed when (Bernard) was in the game, they were looking to pass,” Ngakoue said. “And when it was (Joe Mixon), they were looking to run. So I thought it was going to be a screen.”Dalton who was 22 of 43 for 276 yards. Alex Erickson provided the bulk of Cincinnati’s offense, having a career day with eight catches for 137 yards. He had receptions of 12 Womens Leonard Fournette Jersey , 48 and 27 yards on the Bengals’ touchdown drive late in the first half.Lambo was good on all four field goal tries, leaving him 18 for 18 this season. Leonard Fournette piled up 131 yards against the NFL’s worst run defense. Jacksonville ran for 216 yards overall, the third straight game Cincinnati has allowed more than 200 yards rushing.“They couldn’t stop us,” Fournette said. “We knew that.”STILL PERFECTLambo made field goals of 21, 29, 37 and 26 yards. Since the end of last season, Lambo has made 20 consecutive field goal attempts, four shy of his club record from 2017-18.ALSO PERFECTMinshew hasn’t thrown an interception in his four road games.ANOTHER SACKJaguars rookie Josh Allen had his fifth sack, tying John Henderson for most sacks through the first seven career games in franchise history. All five sacks have come in the last five games.FINALLYCincinnati managed 110 yards in the first half — including minus-2 rushing — but its only drive resulted in a touchdown on Dalton’s 2-yard pass to Mixon for a 7-6 halftime lead. The Bengals’ offense hadn’t scored a first-half touchdown in the last four games.UGLYIn their first five possessions Barry Church Jersey , the Bengals ran 18 plays and managed only 20 yards.MORE UGLYThe Jaguars piled up 309 yards in the first half, but had to settle for two field goals.INJURIESJaguars: The defense was depleted by the fourth quarter. In the first half, LB Najee Goode suffered a foot injury and LB Cam Robinson had a toe injury. In the second half, DT Marcell Dareus had an abdominal injury and LB Quincy Williams left with a hamstring injury.Bengals: CB Darqueze Dennard returned after missing all of camp and the first six games while recovering from knee surgery in March.UP NEXTJaguars: host the Jets on Sunday.Bengals: play the Rams — Taylor’s former team — in London on Sunday. The Jaguars were quick to shoot down rumors that they were interested in moving cornerback Jalen Ramsey before this year’s trade deadline. So if they’re serious about keeping him, Ramsey wants to see it expressed in numbers.Via聽Mike DiRocco of ESPN.com, Ramsey said he doesn’t know where he stands with the organization, but if they want to put his mind at ease he’s ready to start talking about his next contract.“Like I said, I’m going to let my agent and the front office handle that, but after what came out here http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-ereck-flowers-jersey , what was it five weeks ago or however many weeks ago it was, yeah I’m feeling like yeah, if y’all serious about that [a potential trade] not being real, then y’all need to make it happen,” Ramsey said. “If not, then maybe what came out five weeks ago will happen. We’ll see.”Ramsey has one year left on his rookie deal plus the club option for 2020, and they could always franchise tag him after that. But they could extend him after this season, and he’s clearly ready to see what they think.

among people who pay attention to the NFL draft Will Richardson Jersey , and it was no surprise when he was the third overall pick. But it was a total shock when the 98th overall pick was a player who’s only a household name in the Williams household. The Jaguars took Murray State linebacker Quincy Williams — Quinnen’s brother — near the end of the third round, and that was such a surprise pick that NFL Network was caught totally off guard, with Rich Eisen saying on the air that “You’ve stumped the truck. We don’t have a video.”“I did 400 guys — 400 players I worked on. Quincy was not one of the guys I did,” Daniel Jeremiah said on the air.Arif Hasan of TheAthletic.com compiled a list of 730 players on various big boards, and Quincy Williams was not in the Top 730.Quincy Williams said after the third round that the Jaguars called him right after his brother had given him a pep talk to tell him not to worry about not getting drafted.“I talked to my brother a few times,” Williams said. “He told me to stay prayed up, to keep being patient, to keep waiting http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-logan-cooke-jersey , and then as soon as I got off the phone with him, I got the call [from the Jaguars]. It was kind of crazy actually.”Williams noted that he wasn’t invited to the Combine and that Murray State didn’t even have a Pro Day, so he doubted he was going to get drafted.“For me coming from a small school and didn’t get a combine invite, yeah, I kind of did,” Williams said. “Then I had to go to Pro Day somewhere else, so most people thought I was a safety or a smaller linebacker, so yeah it was a thought in my mind. But then I know my abilities Womens D.J. Hayden Jersey , and I believe in myself.”Quincy may have been a reach on the draft boards, but the Jaguars believe they got a player. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The Jacksonville Jaguars released quarterback Cody Kessler on Thursday, clearing the way for rookie Gardner Minshew to become Nick Foles‘ backup.Kessler started four games in place of Blake Bortles last December, completing 64 percent of his passes for 553 yards and a touchdown. He also threw an interception and fumbled four times.Minshew, a sixth-round draft pick, signed his rookie contract and will take part in a three-day rookie camp beginning Friday.Right tackle Jawaan Taylor (second round), tight end Josh Oliver (third) Cody Kessler Jersey , running back Ryquell Armstead (fifth) and defensive tackle Dontavius Russell (seventh) also signed rookie deals Thursday. To make room for them on the 90-man roster, the Jaguars released linebacker Blair Brown, guard Parker Ehinger and running backs Dimitri Flowers and back David Williams. They also parted ways with linebacker Donald Payne after he failed a physical.Brown and Payne had played in a combined 49 games for Jacksonville the past two years, mostly on special teams.Jacksonville made an offseason commitment to improving special teams. Personnel chief Tom Coughlin and general manager Dave Caldwell also wanted to upgrade behind Foles, the former Super Bowl MVP who signed a four-year, $88 million deal in free agency. The Jags traded a 2019 seventh-round pick to Cleveland for Kessler in March 2018. The Browns used the 221st overall selection on Tulane cornerback Donnie Lewis Jr.Coughlin and Caldwell took Minshew a round earlier. They gushed about the quarterback who started at Northwest Mississippi Community College, transferred to East Carolina and ended up at Washington State in 2018.The 6-foot-1 Minshew completed 71 percent of his passes for 4,776 yards with the Cougars http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-nick-foles-jersey , throwing 38 touchdowns and nine interceptions.Kessler’s departure leaves Jacksonville with Foles, Minshew, 2018 sixth-round pick Tanner Lee and Alex McGough as the team’s quarterbacks.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — The Chicago Bears rode a dominant defense to the NFC North championship in a breakout season. They hope to keep it going with a new coordinator. The Bears hired former Indianapolis Colts coach Chuck Pagano to replace Vic Fangio on Friday, hoping he can help them build on what they accomplished this season.Pagano inherits one of the NFL’s stingiest defenses after Fangio left to take the Denver Broncos‘ head coaching job. He will get to work with one of the league’s best pass rushers in Khalil Mack as well as two other All-Pros in cornerback Kyle Fuller and safety Eddie Jackson.Pagano led Indianapolis to a 53-43 record and two AFC South championships from 2012 to 2017. He was forced to take a leave of absence early in his first season to get treated for leukemia. With offensive coordinator Bruce Arians serving as interim head coach, the Colts went 9-3 in his absence after a 1-2 start. They won 11 games and made the playoffs in each of Pagano’s first three seasons before injuries to quarterback Andrew Luck took a toll. Before taking the Indianapolis job, he spent four seasons under John Harbaugh in Baltimore — as secondary coach from 2008 to 2010 and defensive coordinator in 2011, when the Ravens went 12-4 and ranked third in total defense.Pagano was a consultant for the NFL last season.“He is a great teacher with an aggressive mentality that fits our style of football Womens Dick Butkus Jersey ,” coach Matt Nagy said. “He is a man of high character and has a passion for the game that will no doubt add to the culture we have already started building at Halas Hall.”The Bears went 12-4 in their first season under Nagy after four straight last-place finishes and made the playoffs for the first time in eight years. They finished with their best record since the 2006 team went 13-3 and reached the Super Bowl. The season ended on a gut-wrenching note when Cody Parkey’s potential winning field goal hit the left upright and crossbar in the closing seconds of a 16-15 wild-card loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. In four seasons, Fangio helped transform a defense that ranked among the worst in franchise history. Now, he finally has a head coaching job after 32 years as an assistant in the NFL.Like Fangio, Pagano has experience running 3-4 defenses. He also figures to have plenty of autonomy, with Nagy focused on the development of the offense and quarterback Mitchell Trubisky.Chicago already had a top-10 defense when general manager Ryan Pace swung a blockbuster trade for Mack just before the start of the season. That move showed just how serious the Bears were about making a jump after going 14-34 in three seasons under former coach John Fox.The defense jumped to a different level with Mack drawing double teams, Fuller and Jackson emerging, and Pro Bowl defensive end Akiem Hicks wreaking havoc. Linebacker Roquan Smith showed star potential after being drafted with the No. 8 overall pick. Linebacker Leonard Floyd and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman had solid seasons, and it all added up to this.Chicago led the NFL with 36 takeaways and 27 interceptions, a huge change after three straight years with a franchise-worst eight interceptions. The Bears gave up a league-low 17.7 points per game and 1,280 yards rushing — a franchise-low for a 16-game season. They also ranked third in total defense and tied for third with 50 sacks.Mack led the team with 12 1/2 sacks and tied for third in NFL with six forced fumbles. And Fuller tied for the league lead with seven sacks.

Some of those decisions will be easy, while others could prove to be exceedingly difficult for a variety of reasons. Either way, they have to make all of these decisions between February 4th and the beginning of free agency on March 13th.As it stands right now, Los Angeles has 15 players set to become unrestricted free agents at 4pm EST on March 13th. There are some big names and key contributors on this list, a few depth pieces, and a handful of expendable players who are likely to be cut loose. This is the third installment of my offseason plan series, in which I will cover all of the offseason moves I would make leading up to the draft. We already discussed the cuts, restructures and extensions I would pursue, as well as the team’s restricted and exclusive rights free agents, so let’s dive into the six unrestricted free agents I expect the team to re-sign this offseason. We’ll talk about the season they had in 2018, what I expect the team to do, and what their contracts will look like.Let’s get started…Adrian PhillipsAdrian Phillips was the Chargers most improved player, if not the most improved player in the NFL in 2018. The fifth-year defender led the NFL in special teams tackles (19) while finishing among the Bolts’ top five defenders in solo tackles (77), assists (29), total tackles (94), and passes defensed (10). Adrian also earned first team All Pro, Pro Bowl and Professional Football Writers of America All-NFL Team honors for his work on special teams. Needless to say, he’s going to get paid.If any of the Los Angeles free agents are a lock to be re-signed this offseason, it’s probably Adrian Phillips. Adrian is the definition of a homegrown player in the NFL, having worked his way up from being an undrafted free agent to an All Pro over the last five years. I would expect Jahleel Addae’s four-year, $22,500,000 contract to set the (extreme) floor, while Adrian’s representatives will shoot for something more along the lines of Darian Stewart’s four year, $28,000,000 contract. They’ll settle somewhere in the middle.Projected Market Value: 4 years, $26 Michael Badgley Jersey ,500,000 with $8.5M in guaranteesOdds of being retained: 80/20Darius PhilonDarius Philon led the Chargers interior defensive linemen in sacks (4) and tackles for loss (9). He also finished second among defensive tackles in assists, solo tackles and total tackles. Philon was their most consistent interior defender and seems primed to excel in an expanded role next season. It’s hard to imagine the front office not bringing Darius back considering the turnover they’re likely to experience at the position this offseason. While productive, and certainly trending in the right direction in his career, Darius probably won’t command a ton of money. With that in mind, I expect the team to use Damion Square’s two-year, $4,000,000 contract as a baseline. Taking Darius’ large role and the NFL’s ever-growing salary cap into account, I think #93 gets an extra year and an additional $1,000,000 per year.Projected Market Value: 3 years, $9,000,000 with $2.25M in guaranteesOdds of being re-signed: 65/35*I’d feel better about Darius being retained if the team hadn’t scaled back his snaps down the stretch.Damion SquareAfter replacing Isaac Rochell as the starting base end in week five, Damion Square did much of the dirty work against the run and provided invaluable interior pressure in passing situations. While the stat line may not stand out much (31 tackles, 3 sacks, 4 tackles for loss, 3 passes defensed), his effort and energy played a key role in the transformation of the Chargers defense over the final 12 games of the 2018 season and, I suspect, earned him a couple more years with the team. The team loves Square, and rightfully so. He is a true team player, playing key minutes at both defensive tackle positions and Joey Bosa’s base end spot. My guess is the Chargers will offer Damion a deal that closely resembles his most recent contract, adding a slight pay increase and throwing a nice guarantee his way.Projected Market Value: 2 years, $5,500,000, $1 Joey Bosa Jersey ,750,000 guaranteedOdds of re-signing: 70/30Kyle EmanuelKyle Emanuel posted 30 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown while appearing in all 16 games in 2018. He is widely considered the team’s best edge-setter (debatable) and a core special teams player, but he is also a liability in coverage and offers next to nothing as a pass rusher. The team also inexplicably thinks he’s a suitable backup at the MIKE and WILL linebacker positions. This is something of a tricky contract to find comps for because, while Emanuel is technically a defensive “starter”, he doesn’t play starter snaps and is primarily valued on special teams. He also made $1,900,000+ in 2018 and will almost certainly sign for something between $2,500,000 and $3,000,000 per year. Is Kyle worth that sort of commitment considering the team is likely to reduce his role on defense? I don’t think so, but I suspect the team will see things differently.Projected Market Value: Two years, $5,750,000, $250,000 guaranteedOdds of being re-signed: 60/40Geremy DavisGeremy Davis had a great training camp and preseason before ultimately earning the fifth wide receiver position coming out of camp. While he didn’t see much time at wide receiver, he played extremely hard on special teams, finishing the season with 10 special teams tackles. It stands to reason he could enter camp with an inside track on the third or fourth spot on the wide receiver depth chart depending on what happens with Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin this offseason. The team could very well part ways with both Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin this offseason. Should they decide to go that route, it could either lead to a larger role in the offense for Geremy Davis, or entice the team to sign veteran depth behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. Either way, Davis should come cheap and will probably at least head into camp with a chance with an inside track on one of the final three spots at wide receiver.Projected Market Value: One Year, $850,000 with $100,000 in guaranteesOdds of being re-signed: 65/35Jaylen Watkins2018 Season: Jaylen Watkins signed a one year Womens Austin Ekeler Jersey , $800,000 contract with the Chargers last offseason and was, by all accounts, enjoying a solid training camp and preseason before he tore an anterior cruciate ligament during the second preseason game. Watkins can play nickel corner and safety, and signing him creates competition throughout the secondary when healthy. The Chargers obviously liked Jaylen Watkins enough to sign him last offseason, and I have a feeling they’ll probably give him a second chance this offseason. He should come relatively inexpensively and, as I mentioned above, bringing him back breeds competition in the secondary. Maybe bringing Jaylen back allows the team to transition Jahleel Addae into a more suitable dime linebacker role, while giving Watkins and Adrian Phillips a chance to compete at free safety.Projected Market Value: One year, $850,000 with $150,000 in guarantees.Odds of being re-signed: 60/40You probably noticed the absence of players like Tyrell Williams, Denzel Perryman, Jason Verrett and Antonio Gates from this list. As you might have guessed based on their absence, I believe the team will part ways with each of them for one reason or another this offseason. I’ll discuss those at length in my next article. So, in summary, I expect the Chargers to make every effort to retain Adrian Phillips, Darius Philon, Damion Square, Kyle Emanuel, Geremy Davis and Jaylen Watkins. While I’m on board with re-signing Phillips, Philon, Square, and Davis, I could go either way on Watkins. And I’m ready to part ways with Emanuel. In my opinion, Darius Philon is probably the most likely player on this list to outperform his deal, while it will probably be very difficult to get a justifiable return on a market deal for Kyle Emanuel. Thanks for reading and please keep an eye out for my next off-season piece – Four unrestricted free agents the Chargers will not re-sign.Let me know what you think in the comments section… By the time the Chargers called during the offseason to offer him a tryout, James-Michael Johnson had had enough.Still reeling from a year in which he spent time with five teams and got cut six times, the NFL linebacker passed on the chance to grind it out in camp.He retired at age 27 after four seasons. He wasn’t sad to see his playing days come to an end.“It’s just better now http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-melvin-gordon-jersey , knowing that if I go to work every day, work hard, get better at my job and learn everything I can in the occupation, that I’ll continue to progress,” said Johnson, now 29, who works as an emergency medical technician near his hometown of Fairfield, California, with hopes of joining a fire department. “Everything’s not based on my 40-yard dash.”While the league this week will celebrate the longevity of 41-year-old Super Bowl quarterback Tom Brady and others like him, stories resembling Johnson’s — a short stay in the league, followed by a virtually unnoticed retirement — are far more common.A first-of-its-kind analysis, conducted by The Associated Press , found that the average amount of experience on opening-day NFL rosters has dropped from 4.6 to 4.3 years over the past 14 seasons . That’s despite provisions in the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement that had the potential to extend players’ careers.Had Johnson chosen to stick it out and made it onto the Chargers’ roster, they could have gotten him for cheap. Under one of the provisions covering veterans, he could have received a one-year contract for the 2017 league-minimum $775,000, and it would have counted as only $615,000 against the team’s salary cap.But Johnson, a fourth-round pick in 2012, had stuck around long enough to qualify for a modest pension and, with the help of the NFL, had a decent 401(k) started. He loved helping people and looked forward to a different kind of life.So he decided to give up the game before some assistant coach or general manager he barely knew made the decision for him.Johnson — who played what is considered one of the league’s most disposable positions — said that he had never even heard of the salary provision that might have helped him, but that it didn’t sound like a realistic way of keeping guys like him around.“They’re always going to go with the younger player,” Johnson said. “You’re always going to go with the first-year undrafted free agent over the fourth- or fifth-year guy, when you’re dealing with the roster bubble and a couple hundred thousand dollars.”Eric Winston, president of the NFL Players’ Association, agreed: “There are very few positions outside of quarterback where teams are going to want to keep a veteran who’s decently paid and doesn’t start.”There were other factors at play in Johnson’s decision. The Hollywood hit “Concussion” came out during his final season. The movie is based on the real-life investigation into the brain disease caused by multiple hits to the head — a disorder discovered in more than 100 deceased former NFL players who donated their brains to science.Johnson estimates he has had scores of head traumas over his dozen years of football at the high school, college and pro levels. He tells of one instance — not all that uncommon — when he got hit so hard against the Cowboys that “I felt like someone had thrown a grenade at me.”“I don’t remember how I got to the sideline,” he said. “But when you watch the film Philip Rivers Jersey , you see me, and you say, ‘All that happened was he got hit, hopped up and jogged off.’ Nobody knew anything bad had happened to me.”Because of what he knows now, Johnson feels compelled to someday spell out the risks to his 4-year-old son, James-Michael Jr., if he wants to play football.“I still wonder how that’s all going to play out for me when I’m 45 or 50,” Johnson said.Though he misses the competition, he doesn’t miss football itself. In fact, he barely ever watches it.His best memories of the NFL will be what happened off the field. He loved the Tuesdays when he would be invited to schools, food banks or charity events for a chance to meet people in the community. He made friends in all the locker rooms he was part of.Fresh out of football, Johnson considered scouting and coaching, only to be turned off by both.Invited to an NFL rules meeting, Johnson said he felt the priority wasn’t to make the game safer or more fair.Meanwhile, coaches he looked up to in college described a transient existence of slowly working your way up the ladder in a career that is ultimately dependent on head coaches who commonly get fired every four or five years. To Johnson, it sounded not all that different from the life he had just left. In all, he got cut seven times by six teams.Though his paychecks are not as gaudy these days, Johnson feels as if he can breathe again.“Now, I know if I do my job to the best of my ability, I can keep coming to work,” he said. “Someone’s not to call me up into the office and say, ‘We looked at the tape, and we’re thinking about bringing in a younger, better player today.'”

Philadelphia Eagles — Primary tight ends: Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Richard Rodgers. Ertz is a 28-year-old Pro Bowler who set career highs in catches (116), receiving yards (1,163), and catch rate (74.4 percent) last season. Goedert didn’t need much time to adjust to the league even after playing his college ball at South Dakota State, grading out as one of league’s best run blockers at his position. After hauling in 33 catches and four touchdowns, he’s capable of filling the gaps others leave behind if they focus too hard on Ertz. Rodgers is a useful depth option and special teamer who can catch the hell out of a Hail Mary.Report: Eagles’ Joe Douglas will interview for Jets general manager job on Sunday - BGNPhilly could be losing a key front office member soon.Jim Schwartz hints at more player acquisitions for his defense - PhillyVoiceThe Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is loaded. The defense? Eh, on paper, it looks solid, but it doesn’t lack its areas of concern. Speaking for the first time since the Birds were eliminated from the playoffs, Jim Schwartz was asked about his thoughts on the the player acquisitions to his defense this offseason. ”It’s obviously still a work in progress,” he said. “If history holds true Jordan Matthews Jersey , there will be another addition somewhere along the line. Howie and Joe have never been shy about adding another player in training camp or at the waiver wire or anything else.” Well then. It sounds a lot like Schwartz would welcome more players being added to his side of the ball. This offseason, of course, the Eagles allocated more resources to their offense than their defense.Appreciating the Eagles - Iggles BlitzSince Jeffrey Lurie took over the Eagles in 1994, he wanted to turn them into a good organization. The first few years were erratic, on and off the field. There wasn’t a strong leader for the organization and it was easy to question just what was going on. Lurie hired Tom Modrak to be the team’s General Manager in 1998 and that had a huge impact. He brought experience and structure to the front office. Lurie and Joe Banner then hired Andy Reid in 1999 and that really changed things. In terms of being part of the community, the first memory I have is Jermane Mayberry’s eyemobile for kids. That started in 1996. Now the Eagles do all kinds of charity events. Players do charitable things on their own. Some of this is for PR, but I think a lot of it is genuine. Become part of the community and help those around you. Take advantage of your time in the limelight. It is easy to be an Eagles fan with what you see, on and off the field. Just look around the rest of the sports world and you see some less than stellar organizations. This time of the year, it’s all about the Brain Game - PE.comIn Year 2, Goedert is in a different place, with a different role. “I’m so much more comfortable, it isn’t even close,” Goedert said. “This time of the year http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-avonte-maddox-jersey , you’re in the playbook, you’re in the classroom. Philadelphia Eagles, WRDeSean Jackson replaces Jordan Matthews. Matthews’ 2018 stat line: 20 receptions, 300 yards, 2 TD. Jackson’s 2019 projection: 45 receptions, 765 yards, 5 TD. Whether they’ve tried Nelson Agholor, Torrey Smith or Mike Wallace Womens Josh Sweat Jersey , the Eagles have struggled to add a vertical element to the offense since Doug Pederson was hired in 2016. During the three seasons, they’ve completed a pedestrian 76-of-221 targets 20-plus yards down field (34.4 percent) for 2,768 yards and 12.5 yards per target. They looked to rectify that by trading for old friend Jackson, who returns to the team that drafted him, following five seasons away. Jackson’s 10.8 yards per target was sixth highest in the NFL last season, and his career 10.0 YPT tops the league since he was drafted in 2008. The 32-year-old will be a force as a lid lifter in 2019, as will 2019 draft pick JJ Arcega-Whiteside.NFL Insiders Pick 2019 Rookie of the Year Candidates - B/RMiles Sanders, RB, Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles have a talented and loaded depth chart at running back, which is the only reason why Miles Sanders wasn’t ranked higher. Sanders has the talent and is a perfect fit in Doug Pederson’s offense; it’s just a matter of breaking out of the pack to get the touches needed to produce.Which NFL Teams Will Have the Biggest Contracts Due? - MMQB5. Eagles/Jaguars: Both of these teams have either been able to build their roster thanks to a team-friendly rookie quarterback deal, or have recently seen the downside of what happens when that quarterback doesn’t pan out. Philadelphia’s brilliant run in free agency, trades and the draft will come to head with the looming decision on Carson Wentz’s rookie deal after this season (it expires after 2020). Meanwhile, the Jaguars are doing all they can to keep a star-studded supporting cast alive long enough for Nick Foles to take them to the playoffs. Sooner or later Mike Wallace Jersey , Jalen Ramsey is going to want (and deserve) an awful lot of money.Vinny Curry back with Eagles to chase that Super Bowl feeling - NBCSPFor whatever reason, Jim Schwartz didn’t want to mention the name of the game, so we’ll try to honor his request. On Tuesday, Schwartz was talking about the new additions to the Eagles’ defense and the first person he named was Vinny Curry, who played his first six years in Philadelphia before joining the Buccaneers for one season. After getting cut by Tampa Bay, he’s back with the Eagles on a one-year deal. “He really looks like he hasn’t missed a beat from where he was when he last played a game for us,” Schwartz said, “which was in Minnesota.” You probably remember the game in Minnesota. It was the last game of the 2017 season but was played on Feb. 4, 2018; ringing any bells?Like he had in the 18 games prior, Curry started this one too. He played 44 snaps (58 percent) and had four tackles. The Eagles won. They got a trophy. “I’m trying to really, really take it to the next level,” Curry said this week. “To feel that feeling again, I’ll do anything in the world for it. He said, per ESPN’s Eric Williams via Twitter, “No, I don’t think they played well at all. We dominated the game. Turnovers, we gave them some points and that’s what happened. They suck.”Now, it’s not terribly uncommon for a player to focus on how his team lost the game rather than how their opponent won it. That sort of take is mildly frowned upon, but it’s normal enough. Allen’s insistence that the Chargers “dominated the game” is a bit much, but it is also within the realm of what’s considered fair or reasonable to say. It’s that last line where I think he is going to lose people. Flat out saying that the Broncos “suck” is simply amazing. That said, this is the attitude that Allen plays with and it is part of what makes him one of the NFL’s best receivers, so that is something you have to consider. What do you think? Alshon Jeffery Jersey , and coach Sean Payton has the perfect solution. As New Orleans prepares to face an Eagles team that the Saints shredded, 48-7, the Saints need to put that behind them. The best way to do that? Focus on what’s in front of them.As first explained by New Orleans bankruptcy attorney John DeTrinis on Twitter — and which absolutely happened — coach Sean Payton had armed guards bring $225,000 and the Lombardi Trophy into a team meeting to illustrate what’s at stake.“Y’all want this?” Payton said, causing the room to erupt. (If the Saints win the Super Bowl, each player will earn an extra $225,000.)鈥淚 think just showing and trying to give everybody a vision, especially the young guys as to obviously what we’re after and the opportunity that we have, especially as the one seed,” quarterback Drew Brees told reporters on Wednesday, explaining the strategy. “Just knowing that we control it and it all comes through this place. But, the head coach did mention that it isn’t a season-ending injury so they’re excited about that.He also mentioned that there isn’t much else to update about the quarterback position. They are comfortable with the two guys they have behind Carson Wentz — Cody Kessler and Clayton Thorson — and they’ll just be getting a lot more reps as they continue through training camp. And, on whether or not they were going to bring in another QB:Pederson noted that they still have three weeks left of camp to decide how they’re going to designate Sudfeld and whether it’ll affect the final 53-man roster. The head coach also wouldn’t say whether Sudfeld’s injury would affect whether Carson Wentz would take more snaps during the preseason. Pederson said that they just wanted to get through this weekend’s set of practices and figure out how they’ll handle QB preseason reps later.Later on, Pederson explained that the team signed Cody Kessler in part because of his previous NFL experience. He was someone who could push Sudfeld, and obviously would be someone who could get more reps than the rookie. He also talked a bit about what he saw from Sudfeld before the injury, and why it’s a good opportunity for Kessler and Thorson moving forward. And while they would have liked to have another game or two from Sudfled to see how he’s developed, Pederson said that he’s done enough in practice and last year, for them to feel comfortable with him being the No. 2 guy when he’s ready to get back on the field. On handling first-team repsCarson Wentz and the first team offense took a lot of practice reps on Saturday and Pederson mentioned that it was by design because they had rested for so many days.Tight end Zach Ertz got a lot of reps in Saturday’s practice as well, and Pederson made note that there is a lot of good opportunties through practice and preseason game for the other TEs — like, Joshua Perkins, Will Tye and Alex Ellis — to hone their skills and find a role within the offense.Pederson also talked about Miles Sanders only taking snaps in the first preseason game Zach Ertz Jersey , but the head coach noted that the rookie RB gets a ton of carries and work at practice. They feel comfortable with what they know he can do, and Sanders will get additional playing time as they get further into the preseason. He also noted that they have a lot of running backs on the roster right now, so they wanted to make sure everyone got enough playing time for evaluations. On the offensive lineLane Johnson is still considered day-to-day, but Pederson said that they are expecting him to be ready by Week 1 of the regular season.Pederson was also pretty complimentary of second-year player Jordan Mailata, who got a lot of opportunities and snaps in Thursday’s first preseason game. The head coach said it was a similar situation with rookie OT Andre Dillard.Later on, Pederson also mentioned that they know Halapoulivaati Vaitai can play tackle and now they know he can play guard, but they wanted him to get more guard reps in the first preseason game. Similarly, Matt Pryor is another guy that can play both positions, so he got some time at tackle the other night, too.On surprising standouts

Classy move from a classy dude. Recently retired NFL defensive end Chris Long recently created a stir by acknowledging to Dan Patrick that () Long smoked marijuana during his playing career.Long hopes that his candor regarding marijuana use will help remove the lingering stigma regarding a substance that gradually is gaining legitimacy in a growing majority of American states.“The lead was not that I smoked marijuana,” Long tells ESPN.com. “The lead was that I talked about trying to destigmatize it. And hopefully the NFL will hear some of their players talk — former or current, if you have the balls — to say, ‘Something needs to change.'”Current players need to tread lightly when it comes to acknowledging marijuana use, because even without a positive test a public or private admission of marijuana use land a player in the drug-testing program. But there’s nothing wrong with players standing up and saying that there should be no impediment to doing what people in most states can do for medicinal reasons and in more and more states for recreational purposes.“I think Roger [Goodell] is a guy who’s trying to get out in front of things and hopefully this is no exception http://www.eagleslockerroom.com/authentic-deandre-carter-jersey ,” Long said. “We’re dealing with a generational stigma, so you’re used to your fans being old-guard people who bought into that stigma. And it challenges the stereotype of football.”The league’s current prohibition comes with a largely toothless once-per-year testing protocol that allows players to easily navigate the ban, if they can stop smoking long enough before the test to pass it.“I think at the end of the day, I would hope that they would consider lifting that kind of arbitrary ban,” Long said. “You’ve got one test a year; if you get tested more than that it’s because you failed the test.”The league has resisted removing the ban because it constitutes a chip for collective bargaining. By delegating to question to medical professionals Brandon Brooks Jersey , perhaps the league is willing to not secure a concession before relinquishing the current rule.Long believes marijuana use should be permitted regardless of medical necessity.“Some guys want to get high,” Long said. “And what’s worse? Downing a six-pack of beer or smoking a joint?”Long is right. And here’s hoping he keeps talking and writing about it. And that he inspires others connected to the sport to do the same. If enough voices join the chorus, it will make change inevitable — and it will make it easier for that stigma to evaporate.

Which makes for a not-so-easy balance when it comes to whether Fangio will be patient.“That’s a difficult question,” Fangio recently told Woody Paige of the . “If I say I’m not going to be patient, you and everybody else will think I’m going to make some knee-jerk short-term decisions that won’t have long-term benefits. What we’ve got to do, I believe, is let’s go out there and evaluate this team, find out where we need help. Make some good choices for the future, not just for today, if I’m making sense. I’m not looking to go 4-12 or 5-11, thinking that we’re rebuilding. But we must realize that two years from now, three years, that what we did in the 2019 season was why we are at that point.”What needs to be done Womens Dick Butkus Jersey , then?“We have to establish a work ethic in the players here and work very hard in the acquisitions of players,” Fangio said. “Here’s what happened to the Bears before I got there. What they were doing was putting Band-Aids on every little problem, hoping they would be a good team the next year. By the time we got there, they sucked. They were old, no young talent, no nothing. I’ve coached on two expansions teams in Carolina and with the Texans, and our roster on defense when I was hired was worse than those expansion team defenses.“We can’t let that happen here. We can’t do everything to just get to 8-8 now and be 3-13 in 2021. Does that mean that we won’t get a veteran in free agency that will help us for a year or two? We can do that. But we can’t go and throw a bunch of [stuff] against the wall and hope it sticks.”It sounds like Fangio will hope to build through the draft, and to supplement the roster with free agents, ideally those who are available at discount rates after the first wave of the spending process. Ultimately, however, what Fangio wants won’t matter; John Elway runs the team William Perry Jersey , and he knows that time is running out. Thus, while Fangio may be preaching patience, Elway may be swinging for the fences. Or, at a minimum, hoping to hit a ground-rule double. It was ugly. It was gut wrenching. And it was, ultimately, a win for Chicago.A 16-14 victory at Denver on Sunday has the Bears breathing a little easier, and they can thank their dominant defense and kicker, of all people, for that."What we saw yesterday was a team that was very resilient," coach Matt Nagy said on Monday. The Bears came into the season with soaring expectations after winning the NFC North in Nagy's first year and making the playoffs for the first time since 2010.The defense so far has looked good http://www.thebearslockerroom.com/authentic-mike-ditka-jersey , containing Aaron Rodgers and the rival Green Bay Packers in a 10-3 loss at Soldier Field to open the NFL's 100th season, and delivering another solid effort against Denver. New kicker Eddy Pineiro came through on Sunday, booting the winner on the final play. But if the Bears are going to make a deep playoff run, they need more from an offense that has struggled through two games. Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky is having a difficult time, and that has to turn around. The Bears at least avoided an 0-2 hole that would have cast a cloud over a team with soaring expectations.WHAT'S WORKINGThe defense continues to rank among the league's best under new coordinator Chuck Pagano after Vic Fangio left to take the head coaching job in Denver. The Monsters of the Midway ranked fourth overall through Sunday, and were two off the NFL lead with seven sacks. The Bears turned in a solid effort against Denver after holding Green Bay in check. Yes, the Bears gave up 372 yards and 27 first downs to the Broncos, and they appeared to lose steam down the stretch on a hot day in the high altitude. But they gave up just one touchdown.WHAT NEEDS HELPThe Bears expect to make a big jump on offense in their second season under Nagy. So far, it's not happening.Chicago ranked 30th on offense through Sunday and has just one touchdown through two games — a 1-yard run by rookie David Montgomery in the third quarter against the Broncos."We know we need to be better," Nagy said. "As the season goes on, we really feel like — and we have an amount of trust in ourselves — that we as coaches and we as an offense will get going here. We feel really good that when we do get this thing going Womens Richard Dent Jersey , it's going to be a lot of fun."STOCK UPThe Bears can maybe breathe a little easier when they send out their kicker.Pineiro made all three attempts against the Broncos, including a 53-yarder to end the game. He also connected from 40 and 52 yards, after Nagy opted in the opener to try for a first down on fourth-and-10 rather than attempt a 51-yard field goal.Chicago ultimately went with Pineiro — 4 for 4 on the season — after bringing in a long line of kickers in the offseason to replace the embattled Cody Parkey.STOCK DOWNThe Bears began the season looking for bigger things from quarterback Mitchell Trubisky in his third year in the league and second in Nagy's system. But he was erratic against Green Bay and no better against Denver, throwing for 120 yards on 16-of-27 passing. To be fair, he has faced two tough defenses. And facing Von Miller and Bradley Chubb was not going to be an easy task, particularly with Fangio now scheming against Chicago.INJUREDNagy said the Bears were still determining the extent of the hand injury that knocked defensive tackle Bilal Nichols out of the game. He does not expect Nichols to go on injured reserve.KEY NUMBER29 — The Bears ran 29 times for 153 yards against Denver, compared to 15 carries for 46 yards against Green Bay.NEXT STEPSTrubisky and the offense will try to get in gear when the Bears visit the Washington Redskins on Monday night.

For the most part Womens Justin Blackmon Jersey ,rules regarding offseason workouts. One of the exceptions continues to be Jaguars executive V.P. of football operations Tom Coughlin.Said Coughlin regarding players who chose not to attend voluntary workouts: “We’re close to 100 percent attendance — and quite frankly all of our players should be here.”The NFL declined to comment on Coughlin’s comments. But maybe nothing more needs to be said, given the plain language of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. From Article 21, Section 5(a): “No Club official may indicate to a player that the Club’s offseason workout program or classroom instruction is not voluntary.”“All our players should be here” represents an in-plain-sight indication that the sessions aren’t voluntary. The NFL Players Association has yet to respond to a request for comment on the matter. In 2017, the union pushed back twice against aggressive efforts by Coughlin to skirt the rules, from requiring players to submit to physicals to attempting to start the offseason program earlier than allowed. This time around, Coughlin has handed the NFLPA a smoking-gun violation of the rules. Given a history of tension that dates back more than a decade, it will be a surprise if the union doesn’t try to take action against Coughlin’s decision to do a cannonball across a bright line. Patrick Mahomes is good. 2018 David Johnson looks nothing like 2016 David Johnson. The Rams defense has not only replaced the Seahawks as the NFC’s most dominant unit, but may be the best the NFL has to offer.Week 3 will go a long way toward helping fantasy football owners decide how those clear early observations play out. Mahomes, Johnson and the Rams defense are certain starts, but the same can’t be said for some others whose fate will hinge on the faith of their owners.START: Ryan Fitzpatrick Cam Robinson Jersey , QB, Buccaneers: FitzMagic’s next act won’t be too hard as the Steelers defense looks easily disappears. Pittsburgh is 31st in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks and will have to contend with the withering assault that will come from Fitzpatrick firing the ball to the likes of Mike Evans, O.J. Howard and DeSean Jackson. Mahomes’ historic start is the only reason that Fitzpatrick’s 699 yards and eight touchdowns aren’t the story of fantasy football. Playing Fitzpatrick on Monday night will give his owners plenty of confidence in pulling out a Week 3 victory.SIT: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers: Seriously. The threat of his injured knee giving way blends in with a road game against a Redskins defense that has allowed 161 passing yards per game and a mere 5.1 yards per attempt. Rodgers saw his Week 1 fantasy output nearly cut in half by the Vikings last week and the Redskins will be focused on forcing him to make plays on his bad leg. Under normal circumstances, Rodgers is a must-start on a weekly basis, yet there’s too much risk in play with his injury. Those who have a QB2 who is healthy and has a favorable matchup may want to go in that direction.START: Matt Breida, RB, 49ers: He’s not going to repeat his 12.5 yards per carry from last week against the Lions, but Breida is in line for another big afternoon against a Chiefs defense that is giving up yardage in big chunks. While Kansas City is seventh overall versus the run http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-myles-jack-jersey , its inability to stop pass-catching backs is why it’s 30th in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing runners. Alfred Morris will still get his touches but in a game with two bad defenses, Brieda is the clear choice, especially in point-per-reception (PPR) formats.SIT: Dalvin Cook, RB, Vikings: A hamstring issue led Cook to miss practice on Wednesday and with a battered Bills defense on the Sunday docket, this could lead Minnesota to either put him on a tight “pitch count” in favor of Latavius Murray or have him sit out. Buffalo is 29th in fantasy points allowed per game against opposing backs, making Cook a tempting play, but don’t be surprised if the Vikings play the long-term game and make Murray an intriguing flex option.START: Corey Clement, RB, Eagles: It’s unlikely that Jay Ajayi and/or Darren Sproles will be available against the Colts Womens Yannick Ngakoue Jersey , making Clement a sneaky good start in PPR leagues. Clement caught five passes for 55 yards and a touchdown in last week’s loss against the Buccaneers and gets a meaty matchup against Indianapolis. The Colts are allowing 11 catches and 93 yards per game to opposing running backs. With Nelson Agholor and Zach Ertz as the only reliable options in the Philadelphia passing game, look for the returning Carson Wentz to help get Clement 12-15 touches as a dual threat.SIT: Corey Davis, WR, Titans: Quarterback Marcus Mariota’s status remains in question, which means Blaine Gabbert will again be cast into the role of game manager for a run-heavy attack. It doesn’t help Davis’ cause that he’ll see plenty of All-Pro corner Jalen Ramsey much of the afternoon. The Jaguars are ninth in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing receivers and if Gabbert is indeed the starter, don’t count on Davis putting up big numbers.START: Keelan Cole, WR, Jaguars: Leonard Fournette should return to the lineup, but it shouldn’t keep Cole from having a solid encore performance after last week’s seven-catch, 116-yard outing against the Patriots that included his first touchdown of the season. Cole has caught 10 of his 12 targets in the early going and has shown his big-play skills DJ Chark Jersey , having pulled in four passes of 20-plus yards. Tennessee has allowed a staggering 70 percent completion rate to opposing passers and if the Titans put too much focus on slowing down Fournette, Cole and Blake Bortles will be able to put up solid numbers.SIT: Tyler Eifert, TE, Bengals: C.J. Uzomah is beginning to steal targets from Eifert and it doesn’t help his cause that the Panthers have been solid when it comes to containing opposing tight ends. Eifert could have red zone potential, but the Bengals will look to exploit a Carolina defense that is 28th in completion percentage (73.7) by using running back Gio Bernard to help take attention off A.J. Green.START: Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions: Detroit is 30th in rushing, which is more reason for Stafford to fire away against a New England defense that was scorched by Blake Bortles last week. The Pats have allowed 276 passing yards per game and Stafford comes off a 347-yard, three-TD performance in the loss at the 49ers. This should also be a good game to play Lions receiver Kenny Golladay, who has seemingly passed by Marvin Jones and could have a huge Sunday night.SIT: Josh Gordon http://www.thejaguarslockerroom.com/authentic-a.-j.-cann-jersey , WR, Patriots: Tom Brady will get to deploy his latest weapon on Sunday night, but Gordon won’t be on the field enough to justify starting him. Gordon will probably get 15-20 plays, which means he will get three to four targets with at least one a downfield shot. It will be best to wait a game or two before going all-in with Gordon, whose upside has never looked better now that he is with a franchise who can help him mature on and off the field.

Recapping the Week: DE Isaac Rochell the Leader of Notre Dame West - Chris Hayre"Ike has gotten better every single year Brandon Mebane Jersey ,” Head Coach Anthony Lynn said. “He's changed his body. His work ethic is outstanding. He's turned into a pro. I look for him to take the next step this year, but he has gotten better every single year. That's what you want in your young athletes."Re-birth of Slash: NFL teams looking for the next Taysom Hill - Eric D. Really, I'm just excited to be in that quarterback room and get an opportunity to learn."Hunter Henry: Ready to Breakout Again? - Neil DuttonWithout scoring a touchdown a week http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-michael-schofield-jersey , he may struggle to command a place at the very top of the fantasy TE pool, let alone challenge the Big Three. But his 2017 performance (10.6 fantasy points per game) would have been good for a place inside the top eight last season. I believe his total value lies somewhere between his present best ball ADP and our rankings here at RotoViz. He could be this year’s Eric Ebron. Or he could be this year’s Hunter Henry. It will be fun to see which.Dynasty WR Bust Candidates (2019 Fantasy Football) - Chuck GioffreWilliams’ current ranking and ADP are 20 spots higher in dynasty drafts than in 2018. A steep price increase for a receiver that averaged just four targets per game. However, Williams converted 23% of his receptions into touchdowns last year for 10 total receiving touchdowns, which has inflated his price. As I mentioned previously, touchdowns aren’t reliable year to year and Hunter Henry is expected to be back and command heavy targets. Mike Williams has been basically been used as a TE and only accumulated 85 total yards after the catch last year Womens Corey Liuget Jersey , ranking 103rd among receivers according to PlayerProfiler.com. Williams’ unstainable TD rate and increased target competition make him an ideal bust candidate heading into 2019.Chargers could potentially have feel-good story of the year in Jerimiah Spicer - Travis WakemanSpicer grew up in Los Angeles, but he had to do so on the streets during his teenage years. PDTShareTweetShareShareReport: Raiders have agreed to a deal with Tyrell WilliamsDenny Medley-USA TODAY SportsWell “House Tyrell” Williams will be fighting under a new banner going forward.Tyrell Williams has been a good wide receiver for the Chargers for a few years now. He was a legit deep threat Dan Feeney Jersey , and a great option for Philip Rivers. He did have some problems with drops from time to time, but all in all he was a solid #2 for the team more often than not. While it does sting a little to see him go to the Oakland Raiders, the return on investment for the Chargers front office is likely going to be large. Tyrell was widely thought to be one of the best, if not the best, FA WR option this offseason. While we don’t have official numbers yet http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-derek-watt-jersey , the Raiders likely gave him a contract in the neighborhood of $10M+ per year, which means the Chargers should be on pace for a 4th or possibly 3rd round comp pick next year. The good news for the Raiders is that with Antonio Brown also on the team for them, Tyrell will get to enjoy continuing to be WR2 where he is most successful. I’m happy for Tyrell, he definitely earned this opportunity and I wish him health and a successful career going foward...except when he plays the Chargers of course.

"The Chargers are set to end the 2018 regular season this Sunday with their final divisional match-up against the Denver Broncos. If you are anything like me Keenan Allen Jersey , you have had this match-up circled in red ever since their last contest was dropped in week 11. That contest was at home and the Chargers were currently on a six-game win-streak before self-imploding in front of the home crowd. It left quite a bad taste in my mouth, more so than any of the other four losses this season simply because of the way the team lost it. On Sunday evening, they have a chance to rid the themselves of that lingering cloud prior to their first playoff game in over five years.Without futher ado, here are the three bigget things I’ll be keeping an eye on one the Chargers take the field at Mile High.1.) With Phillip Lindsay on IR, how will the Bolts run defense bounce back?Lindsay became just the third undrafted free agent running back ever to rush for over 1,000 yards in hist first season en route to a Pro Bowl nod. Unfortunately for the former-Colorado Buffalo, Lindsay suffered a wrist injury against the Oakland Raiders this past week and was placed on IR, effectively ending his historic season one game from the finish line.Lindsay finished his rookie campaign with 192 carries for 1,037 yards and nine rushing touchdowns. He added an extra 241 yards through the air on 35 catches with another touchdown, bringing his score total into the double-digits.In his place, 2018 third-round pick Royce Freeman will get the call as the Bronco’s starter heading into Sunday evening. Following the draft, Freeman was pegged by most pundits to be Denver’s starter out of training camp but close to no one saw Lindsay’s rise to prominence coming in the slightest. In his limited action, Freeman has accrued 461 rushing yards on 113 carries to go along with five touchdowns. He has seldom been used in the passing game as he has just six catches for 29 yards to his name. After last week’s performance against the Baltimore Ravens, the Bolts’ run defense needs to use this game as a confidence booster heading into the playoffs after being pushed around from whistle to whistle by Lamar Jackson and company.2.) Broncos pass rush will be the final tune-up before the playoffsJust like clockwork, Von Miller is having another All-Pro season for the Broncos. It also doesn’t help opposing offenses that he has another elite-level pass rusher on the other side on the line in rookie Bradley Chubb. The first-year player out of North Carolina State has 12 sacks on the season http://www.thechargerslockerroom.com/authentic-ladainian-tomlinson-jersey , just 2.5 shy of tying Jevon Kearse’s rookie record of 14.5. He also has two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, and 13 tackles-for-loss to his name among his 56 total tackles.Miller’s stat line is fairly similar to Chubb’s, albeit a bit heavier where you’d expect it. His 14.5 sacks are tied with the Vikings’ Danielle Hunter for 3rd-most in the NFL behind only the Chiefs’ Chris Jones (15.5) and the Rams’ Aaron Donald (19.5).Miller has also forced four fumbles while recovering two. He has an interception (thanks to Rivers during their last match-up) and 14 tackles-for-loss among his 45 total tackles.Fans were likely worried about Russell Okung’s availability for this Sunday after posting back-to-back limited practices earlier this week but the captain was a full participant during Friday’s run-through and looks ready to rock this weekend.3.) Can Rivers rebound after a pair of two-interception performances? It took until the team’s week 11 match-up against the Broncos for Rivers to have his first multi-interception game of the season. That unfortunate performance was only compounded by the plethora of penalties and other unfortunate events that led to the team’s inevitable loss that week.In his last two weeks, Rivers has thrown just two touchdowns (both coming against the Chiefs) to four interceptions. his 181 passing yards last week were a season-low, as well.Up until last week, Rivers was in the thick of the MVP-race. Not because his stats matched-up well with the likes of Drew Brees and Patrick Mahomes, but because of the late victories he was able to rally his team to no matter how stacked the deck was against this team.As my fellow BFTB writer Jamie Hoyle states in the above tweet, Rivers may have a horrendous stat line over the last two weeks, but there’s still a silver-lining that should relax fans a bit before the games REALLY matter. He is correct that two of Rivers’ picks were underthrown passes to receivers that had a step or two on their defenders. But why were the balls underthrown in the first place? Well, there was interior pressure allowed by Dan Feeney on both plays that forced Rivers to have to launch it off his back foot as he drifted away from the threat. As for his other two turnovers, one was actualyl a poor decision and the other was a desperate heave to (blegghh) Travis Benjamin in the end zone towards the end of the Baltimore game. This play made me physically ill as it looked like half of River’s interceptions over the 2015 and ‘16 season when he would try to play “hero ball” when his team let him down over and over again. It hasn’t been pretty, but they still pulled out that game in Kansas City before dropping a “not-so-surprising” loss to the Ravens, a team built to beat a team such as the Chargers. In that game against the Bronocs, even with the two picks Womens Jatavis Brown Jersey , Rivers still managed to top 400 yards passing for just the second time all season. That means this Broncos secondary can be exploited and I wouldn’t be surprised to see another spectacular game for number 17 when it’s all said and done. COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — An 0-4 start put the Los Angeles Chargers in a hole too deep to escape last season.Coach Anthony Lynn wants his new team to spend September building instead of digging. The first few weeks of this season are particularly important to Lynn and the Chargers, a popular pick to win the AFC West and to earn their franchise’s second postseason appearance since 2009.The Bolts went 9-3 after their dismal start to their relocation season, but it wasn’t enough to make the playoffs. Lynn seems confident his veteran players learned the importance of early season urgency from last year’s setbacks.“We’ll see how we start, but hopefully we start faster than we did last year,” Lynn said Monday after the Chargers began preparations for Sunday’s home opener against Kansas City. The Chargers weren’t exactly terrible to begin last season: Three of those four losses were by seven total points, and the Chargers were undone twice by missed field goals in the final seconds. But they didn’t match the level of play they hit frequently later in the year , when the NFL’s top passing offense and an aggressive defense combined to turn the Bolts into one of the NFL’s best teams.“You can’t take wins and losses from last season,” Lynn said. “I wish you could, but you can’t. But you can certainly bring the culture over, and I like the attitude of the players.”The Chargers also feel they’ve got a reliable kicker after last season’s missteps. The team that cycled through four kickers last season is going with Caleb Sturgis, who was the champion Philadelphia Eagles’ kicker at the start of last season before getting hurt and missing the bulk of the year. The Chargers also appear to be getting healthy after several regulars were slowed by injuries during the preseason.Defensive end Joey Bosa, receiver Tyrell Williams, rookie defensive tackle Justin Jones and cornerbacks Casey Hayward and Trevor Williams all participated in the Bolts’ first practice of the week Monday. Bosa and Hayward, two of their most important defensive players Rayshawn Jenkins Jersey , are expected to be ready to play Sunday.“My only concern is a boxer needs so many sparring rounds before you go fight, and these guys have been out,” Lynn said. “So getting them caught up and back in the fold is my only concern.”Tight end Antonio Gates was in the locker room after signing a one-year deal to return for his 16th season with the Chargers, but he won’t return to practice until Wednesday. Lynn is waiting to evaluate the 38-year-old star’s readiness before he determines Gates’ role this weekend.“I just want to see his conditioning,” Lynn said. “I don’t want to put him in a position where he goes out there and hurts himself, and that sets us back four or five weeks. I just don’t see us doing that. But Antonio, he’s a pro. He’ll let me know how he feels at the end of the week and about how his pitch count can be, and we’ll talk about it.”Kansas City will be a particular challenge right away for the Chargers, who were beaten soundly twice by the AFC West champions last year. Kansas City essentially sewed up the division with a 30-13 home victory over Los Angeles on Dec. 16 — the Chargers’ only loss in seven games to close the season.Nearly every playmaker from last season’s team is back, and they all remember how it felt to be playing catch-up all season long.“We definitely want to get it going from the start this year, and not wait to get to where we need to go,” running back Melvin Gordon said recently. “We’ve got to be ready.”
