Maybe even the play of the year in the Comerica Park outfield.
Jones’ twisting, backhanded catch in the sixth inning took a home run away from Adrian Beltre in Detroit’s 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday.
The Tigers scored all their runs in the first, chasing Cole Hamels before that inning was over. It was still 7-0 when Jones made his spectacular catch in left-center field.
Beltre’s drive was headed toward the Texas bullpen, but Jones came over from center and jumped, reaching over the wall with his left hand and backhanding the ball. Jones’ momentum spun him around a bit, and he fell forward onto the ground Zach Brown Jersey , holding on for the out.
”You have to time it,” Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire said. ”As you saw, his whole arm went over the fence, and he snagged it behind. It’s a timing thing, and you have to be athletic to be able to do some of those things.”
Jones did not stay in the clubhouse to talk to reporters afterward.
Hamels (4-8) retired only two batters for the Rangers in his shortest start since 2010.
Mike Fiers (6-5) allowed a run and five hits in six innings. He struck out six with one walk.
Rougned Odor hit a solo homer for Texas immediately after Beltre was robbed by Jones. Shin-Soo Choo doubled twice for the Rangers to extend his on-base streak to 46 games, tying Julio Franco’s club record set in 1993.
Niko Goodrum had four hits for the Tigers.
Nicholas Castellanos opened the scoring with a solo homer with one out in the first. John Hicks added an RBI single Devin Bush Jersey , and Jose Iglesias hit an infield single with two outs and the bases loaded to make it 3-0.
Hamels still would have made it out of the inning, but center fielder Delino DeShields misplayed a line drive by Jones for an error , allowing three more runs to score.
”It just knuckled on me,” DeShields said. ”I was trying to stay with it, but it swerved on me at the last second. It’s frustrating, because you are doing everything you can to make the play http://www.steelerscheapauthenticstore.com/diontae-johnson-jersey-cheap , but he hit it right on the screws and right at me, and that’s when a ball will take off on you.”
Mikie Mahtook followed with an RBI double, and Hamels was replaced after allowing five hits, two walks and three earned runs. He threw 41 pitches.
LOOKING BACK
It was the shortest start for Hamels since June 1, 2010, when he also lasted two-thirds of an inning for Philadelphia at Atlanta. That start was shortened because of a rain delay.
Hamels had gone at least five innings in each of his first 17 starts this year.
”By the time he gave up the double Justin Layne Jersey , he was pushing 40 pitches, and that’s my limit,” Texas manager Jeff Banister said. ”Once you get to 40 in one inning, you are pitching fatigued, and it is too much of a risk to leave him out there. I’m not going to do that to one of my pitchers.”
ON A ROLL
Goodrum had his second four-hit game in a week. He also went 4 for 4 at Toronto on July 1.
He’s hitting .464 (13 for 28) over his last seven games.
”I didn’t know that,” he said. ”The only stats I can see is what they show on the board of everyone.”

Michael Fulmer (3-7) takes the mound for Detroit against Austin Bibens-Dirkx (1-2) in the series finale Sunday.
Chicago announced the move Tuesday. It’s retroactive to June 23, making Bryant eligible to return in a week.
Cubs manager Joe Maddon says the injury is not considered serious and he expects Bryant to be activated next Tuesday. Maddon says the team wants to ”make sure that he is well” and ”cool down and just have him be well afterward.”
The 2016 NL MVP is batting .280 this season with nine home runs, 36 RBIs and an .864 OPS. He had a home run among his six hits in a series last week against the Dodgers, but was just 1 for 8 in the Cubs’ previous series at Cincinnati.
The Cubs recalled infielder David Bote from Triple-A Iowa to take Bryant’s spot on the active roster.
Chicago right-hander Justin Hancock was also placed on the DL with shoulder inflammation, and right-hander Duane Underwood Jr. was optioned to Iowa a day after making his major league debut. The Cubs recalled right-handers Luke Farrell and Dillon Maples.

The 2014-15 season was capped off with one of the most exciting Super Bowl games in recent years and one of the most inexplicable play calls of all time. The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks were two of the favorites to reach the Super Bowl when the season began Josh Oliver Jersey , but predicting the teams that will make the playoffs is not always straight forward. The NFL has the most parity of any of the four major sports leagues with teams making drastic improvements over a one-year time frame more often than other sports. The NFL draft and free agency allows teams to make significant overhauls to their rosters in the offseason that can take them from 4-12 to 12-4. Coaching changes can also catapult underachieving teams into the playoffs. Football is also a sport where a few breaks here and there can change the trajectory of the entire season. Injuries at key positions can hold back playoff caliber teams and make them look like much worse than they are, scheduling can drastically affect a teams playoff challenges and sometimes you are a team in the NFC South and you can win the division with only seven wins. With team success however also comes individual success, and teams that make deep runs in the playoffs can struggle to keep their free agents as other teams offer higher prices for those proven winners. Every year in the NFL a few teams that made the playoffs last year drop off the following year. This past season saw teams like the 49ers, Saints http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-quincy-williams-ii-jersey , and Chargers give way to the Cardinals, Ravens and Lions. Let's try to identify how the teams from this year's playoffs will fare next season. The 2013 NFL Draft was touted as a fairly weak draft leading up to draft day. There were no big time offensive skill players that were thought to be worthy of a top pick, so teams used this draft to fill other, less “sexy” positional needs on their team. In fact Ryquell Armstead Jersey , eight of the first twenty picks were offensive lineman and five of the top twenty were on the defensive lineNow, about two years later, we have seen that the projections were mostly right, as very few solid skill players have emerged from this draft. The quarterbacks and wide receivers that were taken in the draft have not lived up to their expectations http://www.jaguarscheapshop.com/cheap-authentic-gardner-minshew-ii-jersey , even though those expectations were low. However, one position in this draft that is a bright spot in retrospect is running back. The first four running backs taken in the draft have all become starters for their teams and a few are now among the best in the league. The rest of the first round of this draft was fairly hit and miss, with certain players not living up to their draft spot, and others who far surpassed the expectations placed on them when they were drafted. For example Marquise Brown Jersey , lineman who were taken later in the draft are surpassing those who were taken early. So, what would happen if the NFL GMs were able to see two years in the future ahead of the 2013 NFL Draft? The picks would without a doubt change and certain teams would have to completely revamp their draft boards. Well, that fantasy scenario has been brought to life here as we set out to re-draft the Top 20 picks of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Washington Nationals are far from finished. Not after briefly slipping below .500 this week. And Oshane Ximines Jersey , certainly not after spotting the Miami Marlins the first nine runs on Thursday night.
Trea Turner hit two homers, including his first career grand slam, and drove in eight runs to help Washington rally past Miami 14-12 in a wild slugfest to end a five-game losing streak.
”Not to get ahead of ourselves, put together wins, try to win a series,” first baseman Matt Adams said. ”I think that’s what we’re going to focus on from here on out, win two out of three, win three out of four. If that’s the case, then the wins will start stacking on top of each other and we’ll just get rolling the way we’re capable of.”
The Nationals, who dropped 17 of their previous 22, have won 12 consecutive games against Miami dating to last season – their longest winning streak against any team since the franchise moved to Washington in 2005.
It was also the largest comeback victory since the team left Montreal. The Nationals rallied from eight runs down to defeat Atlanta 13-12 on April 28, 2015.
The victory came a day after the Nationals called a players-only meeting Wednesday after Washington was swept by Boston and slipped under .500 for the first time since May 2.
But things didn’t start smoothly.
Miami scored an unearned run in the first, and capped a six-run second on Martin Prado’s three-run homer off the left-field foul pole. The Marlins made it 9-0 on Justin Bour’s two-run homer in the fourth off Jeremy Hellickson.
Despite the huge deficit, Washington was far from out of it.
Turner led off the fourth with a solo shot off Marlins starter Pablo Lopez, who surrendered four more runs in the fifth – including two on Juan Soto’s double. Adam Conley (2-1) then allowed four of the first five hitters he faced to reach in the sixth before Turner smacked a two-out fastball with the bases loaded into Miami’s bullpen to give the Nationals a stunning 10-9 lead. It was Turner’s third career multi-homer game.
”Command was an issue today, so I wasn’t able to get the ball where I wanted,” Conley said. ”My hat’s off to him. I thought the ball was coming out pretty good today, so for him to get ahold of it, that’s the way the game goes. If the game were easy, everybody would play it.”
Turner added a two-run single in Washington’s four-run seventh. His eight RBIs tied for the most ever by a leadoff hitter, according to STATS LLC.
”When we were down 7-0, I feel like we still for sure had a shot – 9-0, it hurts a little bit more, but we did it,” Turner said. ”I think once we got the first run on the board, it kind of just got the momentum back on our side and we continued to push. I think that’s what we’re capable of.”
Shawn Kelley (1-0) pitched a scoreless sixth for the win. Sean Doolittle earned his 22nd save in 23 opportunities.
Adams had four hits for Washington in his first game since a stint on the disabled list for a broken left index finger.
”Good win Julian Love Jersey , but we still got stuff to do,” manager Dave Martinez said.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Marlins: Prado was activated from the disabled list after missing 37 games with a left hamstring strain. … Miami recalled RHP Ben Meyer from Triple-A New Orleans, placed RHP Tayron Guerrero (left lumbar strain) on the 10-day disabled list retroactive to Wednesday and designated OF JB Shuck for assignment. … SS JT Riddle (hip) was scratched from the lineup. … RHP Sandy Alcantara (right axillary infection) is expected to be re-evaluated and begin a throwing progression Monday. … OF Lewis Brinson (right hip) will be re-evaluated Monday.
Nationals: Martinez said the team is optimistic RHP Stephen Strasburg (shoulder inflammation) will be ready to return right after the All-Star break. … 1B Ryan Zimmerman (right oblique strain) will start running the bases Friday or Saturday and could begin a rehabilitation assignment as early as Sunday. … Washington recalled RHP Jefry Rodriguez from Triple-A Syracuse and placed RHP Erick Fedde on the 10-day disabled list. Fedde, who is 1-3 with a 5.79 ERA, left his start Wednesday in the second inning with right shoulder inflammation.
WALK IN THE PARK
Five Nationals who walked eventually scored. Another Washington runner scored after reaching base on a forceout of a player who walked.
”We walked eight guys,” Miami manager Don Mattingly said. ”You can’t walk eight guys with that club over there. We let them back in the game.”
UP NEXT
Marlins: RHP Dan Straily (3-4, 4.70 ERA) has held NL East batters to a .202 average in five starts this season, though none of those outings have come against Washington.
Nationals: LHP Gio Gonzalez (6-5, 3.77) is winless in his last six starts, but is 10-3 with a 1.85 ERA lifetime against Miami.

Doug Pederson is one win away from bringing Philadelphia the elusive Super Bowl title his mentor couldn’t deliver.
If the Eagles (15-3) beat New England (15-3) on Sunday, Pederson will hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy and Philadelphia will celebrate its first NFL title since beating Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers in 1960.
No one saw this coming two years ago.
After abruptly firing Chip Kelly, Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie longed for a coach more like the one he used to have: Andy Reid. Even though Reid failed to win the big game during his 14-year tenure in Philadelphia, he won more games than any coach in franchise history and led the Eagles to nine playoff appearances, five NFC title games and a Super Bowl loss to the Patriots.
Reid also had a close relationship with Lurie, was well-liked by the players and instilled a family atmosphere. That culture was an important element for Lurie. The environment had changed under Kelly, who was 26-21 in three seasons. Though he was an innovative coach, Kelly didn’t connect well with all his players and members of the organization.
So Lurie went back to what he knew and hired Pederson, Reid’s protege.
Lurie was quite familiar with Pederson, who was a quarterback for Reid with the Eagles in 1999 and then an assistant coach on his staff in Philadelphia and Kansas City.
Other coaches had more impressive resumes, but Lurie liked Pederson’s intangibles.
”I spent a lot of time with players at the end of that (2015) season and I thought what was really needed was a kind of leadership that leads with a genuineness, a real genuineness,” Lurie said. ”And people laughed when I used the term `emotional intelligence,’ but that’s probably a really good way to describe it.
”There’s a lot of great coaches. They all have their different styles, but the one common ground among them all is absolute consistency and genuineness. And Doug Pederson is just himself. And at times that’s very humble, and at times it’s just very real. At times that’s very bright. At times it’s tough. But he does it in a true, genuine way and I think players really respond to that in today’s world.”
”Being around him, he’s the same day in and day out,” Pederson said. ”Same consistency. Same work ethic.”
Like Reid, Pederson had his share of critics. He wasn’t the people’s choice in Philly when he got the job and ESPN ranked him the worst hire of his coaching class at the time. Three of the six other coaches already have been fired.
”I don’t pay any attention to that, quite honestly,” Pederson said. ”I drive home at night knowing I put in a full day’s work. I get up in the morning to come in here, and however I can serve this organization and serve these players, that’s all I know. I love football. I love coaching football. I love teaching it. I love being around these guys, and I’m going to pour my life into these players. If it’s good enough, great, because that’s all I know I can do and I’ve given it my best effort. So I don’t care about what’s written.”
Pederson cares about his players, improving their game and making them better men off the field. He gets what they’re going through because he played, although mostly as a backup. They trust in him and his coaching philosophy.
”Coach Pederson is an unbelievable coach to play for,” said Nick Foles, who went from backup quarterback to hero of the NFC championship game. ”He just has such a great feel for the game.”
Pederson’s steady demeanor and positive approach helped the team overcome numerous injuries to key players, including Carson Wentz, Jason Peters and Jordan Hicks.
Seeing their coach never waver gave guys confidence they can beat anyone. It helps that Pederson has devised masterful game plans. He outcoached Mike Zimmer in the NFC championship game as Foles picked apart the top-ranked defense en route to Philadelphia’s 38-7 win over Minnesota .
”I played for some amazing coaches, and Doug is an unbelievable play caller,” Foles said. ”He does a great job of deciding when to call each thing, but our staff is unbelievable at game planning and putting us in position, no matter if it’s the run game, the pass game, the screen game, whatever it may be. The attention to detail is unbelievable and we go into a game feeling 100 percent confident because of our staff and the work and long hours that they put in to get the game plan to us so that we can go out and execute. That’s big for an athlete when you can go out there and trust everything.”

The NFL has become the source of a lot of debate recently with certain athletes deciding to take a knee during the National Anthem. It has sparked a controversy that has grown into a national debate that even the President of the United States has voiced his opinion on the matter. But whether you agree with the protests or disagree with them Melvin Gordon III Jersey , the one thing we can all agree on is the worst 15 NFL draft busts of all time. The phrase draft bust refers to a player that fell well short of expectations after being highly selected during the first round of the draft. Normally, a draft bust is someone that was drafted in the first round, with some rare exceptions of players taken in the second and third rounds many years ago. If a team invests a significant amount of money to sign a supposedly talented college player, they plan on using him and getting as much value from him as possible. They don't expect to take him first overall and cut him during his rookie season. That is just never in the future plans of NFL draft picks. So we decided to go out and find the 15 worst draft picks in NFL history and where they ended up when the dream of playing in the NFL came to a close. A look at what’s happening around the majors Friday:
TEXAS STORY
Colorado shortstop Trevor Story gets to play a big league game near home for the first time when the Rockies open an interleague series Friday night at the Texas Rangers, in a stadium only a few miles from his hometown of Irving, Texas. The Rockies last played at Texas in 2016, which was Story’s standout rookie season. But Story, the 45th overall pick in the 2011 draft out of Irving High, suffered a season-ending left thumb injury about two weeks before that series. Another Texas native starts the opener for the Rockies in right-hander Chad Bettis (4-1) http://www.chargersfootballauthentics.com/joey-bosa-jersey-authentic , who is from Lubbock and went to Texas Tech. He got a no decision in the Rockies’ 12-9 win during that August 2016 series when he allowed five runs in five innings.
ACES UP
Two of the National League’s top pitchers this season will face off when the Chicago Cubs open a weekend series at the St. Louis Cardinals. Jon Lester (7-2) takes the mound for the Cubs, who are coming off two straight losses at Milwaukee, and the left-hander is fourth in the NL in ERA (2.22). Michael Wacha, meanwhile, is 8-1 and seventh in the league with a 2.47 ERA – providing a much-needed boost for a Cardinals team that’s 4-5 in its last nine games against Miami, Cincinnati and San Diego.
BACK IN TOWN
Nathan Eovaldi (1-1) takes the ball for the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium, his fourth outing since becoming the 12th pitcher to start a major league game following multiple Tommy John surgeries. Eovaldi pitched for the Yankees from 2015-16, going 14-3 for them in 2015, but has never faced New York. ”I wish I would have been able to finish on a healthy note. Other than that Quinnen Williams Jersey , I really enjoyed my time there,” Eovaldi said.
Jonathan Loaisiga comes up from Double-A Trenton to make his big league debut for the Yankees, starting in place of injured Masahiro Tanaka. The 23-year-old Loaisiga, from Nicaragua, returned to the mound last year from Tommy John surgery. ”Super excited. This is a great opportunity the Yankees are giving me,” Loaisiga said through a translator. ”It’s been a tough road for me to get here and now it’s about enjoying this moment.”
GIO WATCH
Gio Gonzalez (6-2, 2.65 ERA) had his worst start of the season in his last outing, allowing four runs in 3 1/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants last week. The Washington Nationals left-hander will return to the mound when he makes an interleague start against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Titans cut the Chargers’ lead to one point on a one-yard touchdown catch by tight end Luke Stocker with 31 seconds to play in London on Sunday and that left Titans coach Mike Vrabel with a decision to make.Vrabel opted to go for two and stuck with that choice after a pass into the end zone went incomplete on a try nullified by a Chargers penalty. Vrabel called another pass Corey Davis Jersey , but the result was the same and the Chargers held on for a 20-19 win.Things didn’t work out, but Vrabel wasn’t second-guessing himself after the game.“I have a lot of faith in our players, we prepare, we work together and I’ve got confidence in them to go out and execute. It just didn’t work out. Faced with the same situation I’d like to think I’d do it the same way,” Vrabel said, via ESPN.com.The Titans ran for 164 yards over the course of the game, so the choice to pass the ball is one that came under scrutiny after the game. Mariota said he loved the call and “should have maybe done a better job of extending the play” before throwing to Taywan Taylor. Time to get the offense firing on all cylinders."WhiteFanposts Fanshots Sections Tennessee Titans Podcast2019 NFL Draft: Titans Should Target Offense Early and OftenNew,110commentsTime to get the offense firing on all cylinders.CDTShareTweetShareShare2019 NFL Draft: Titans Should Target Offense Early and OftenKevin Jairaj-USA TODAY SportsFor three straight years the Tennessee Titans have been a good team.Good, but not great. The 9-7 records are somewhat of an accomplishment, but also now indicates the team still remains stuck in the “almost there” category.Mike Mularkey’s Titans were usually competitive and well-prepared. It was obvious to many though that the Mularkey teams always had a limit. There was always one thing that prevented them from truly threatening good teams: they lacked offensive firepower. Built around a strong run game and limited pass game http://www.thetitanslockerroom.com/authentic-bennie-logan-jersey , the Titans simply couldn’t keep up when facing great offenses. In came Mike Vrabel and new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur. Finally, this was a chance for the offense to progress.More receivers, more spacing, more passing. There were positive signs and encouraging decisions. Marcus Mariota’s completion percentage jumped up 62% to 68.9%. The Titans’ use of 11 personnel went up from 35% in 2017 to 58% in 2018.Unfortunately, the 2018 Titans offense ran into different complications. Significant injuries and a terrible offensive line would cap their potential and again hold the team back.It is no secret what the Titans need in order to make the leap to Super Bowl contender. Whether you are a fan of standard statistics, newer analytics, or simply want to use the ‘eye test,’ all will point you in the same direction: the Titans need a great offense to become a great team.In general, offense is more important than defense. There are several studies linking the correlation between offensive output and wins, but Football Outsiders’ “Basics” always provide a good foundation:The Titans have already had a strong start to fixing their offensive problems. Free agent acquisitions Rodger Saffold and Adam Humphries will both help fix a few major flaws from last season. But they aren’t enough. The Titans need to attack the draft with a mindset of creating a strong offense. That doesn’t mean you have to go offense in the first round - they currently hold six total picks - but it should nudge them in that direction depending on the draft board.Defensive exceptions exist certainly Rashaan Evans Jersey , for instance if Ed Oliver falls to 19. Maybe they’re jumping for joy if Brian Burns is still available. Those are just a few of the tremendous defensive prospects the team won’t overlook just because they play defense.More likely though, those prospects are off the board within the first 10-15 selections. My personal preference (again, estimating what players should be available at 19) would be to choose an interior OL at 19. Garrett Bradbury and Chris Lindstrom are both strong fits for the Titans’ offensive scheme.Wide receiver and tight end should also be possibilities, but thanks to Mike’s great work here the receiver options look like they’ll remain strong into the middle rounds.N’Keal Harry, JJ Arcega-Whiteside or Marquise Brown would be my top targets at 51 but there should still be a few excellent choices even if receivers start flying off the board early in the second round (which does seem very possible).A good interior OL and WR in the first two rounds would certainly provide freedom the rest of the way. There are obviously too many different permutations to list here though, and several of them even include a defensive player in the first round. Overall though, the Titans should set their sights on creating an explosive offense and attack the draft to achieve that goal.

BUFFALO BILLS (6-10)UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: WR Deonte Thompson Tytus Howard Houston Texans Jersey , OGs Ryan Groy and John Miller, OT Jordan Mills, RB Taiwan Jones, DT Kyle Williams (retired), CB Vontae Davis (retired).RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS: TE Logan Thomas Vyncint Smith Jersey , CB Lafayette Pitts, DL Eddie Yarbrough, LB Deon Lacey, P Matt Darr.NEEDS: With their quarterback position finally (hopefully?) settled following Josh Allen’s rookie season, Bills can begin filling various needs around him. On defense Brandon Dunn Jersey , Buffalo’s thin at linebacker. With starting job open opposite Tre’Davious White, Bills reached agreement to sign former Texans cornerback Kevin Johnson.AVAILABLE SALARY CAP SPACE (approximately): $70.6 million, though the anticipation is Bills will target mid-range free agents and avoid making splash they did in signing DE Mario Williams to six-year, $100 million contract seven years ago. The Texans ensured that linebacker Jadeveon Clowney wouldn’t leave the team as a free agent this year by using the franchise tag on him earlier this month, but his future with the franchise beyond 2019 remains unclear.Clowney can sign a long-term deal with the Texans through July 15 Dylan Cole Jersey , although word earlier this year was that the Texans preferred to let this season play out before making that kind of commitment. The idea behind that approach would presumably be to see if Clowney remains healthy and productive, but head coach Bill O’Brien said on Tuesday from the league meetings in Arizona that the team plans to work toward an agreement this offseason.O’Brien acknowledged that won’t be a simple process.“It’ll be interesting,” O’Brien said, via the . “We try to do the best we can to represent our organization in the best way possible relative to each player.”O’Brien said he hopes to see Clowney on April 15 when the team opens offseason workouts, but that seems unlikely unless contract talks take a big leap in the next couple of weeks.

The front-runner for the Green Bay Packers’ head coaching job appears to be giving some signs that he is focused on the opportunity to come to Wisconsin. New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is scheduled to interview with the Packers on Friday in Foxboro, one of several individuals that the Packers will talk to this week. While the Packers are meeting with fellow Patriots assistant Brian Flores on Friday before flying to New Orleans to interview two Saints assistants on Saturday, McDaniels is keeping his schedule clear the rest of the week. According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, McDaniels turned down an interview request from the Cincinnati Bengals Vince Biegel Jersey , which was the only other team known to have asked to meet with him about a head coaching job so far.If other teams would want to talk to McDaniels, they would likely have submitted their requests by now. Because the Patriots earned a first-round bye in the postseason, McDaniels is only eligible to interview the week before the Wild Card round. After Sunday, the next opportunity for him to talk to teams would be either after the Patriots are eliminated from the postseason or the week following the Conference Championship games. For now, however http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-paul-hornung-jersey , it appears that McDaniels’ options are limited to two: get the Packers’ job, or stay with the Patriots as their OC. One interpretation of his decision to turn down the other interview is that he is focused on getting the job in Green Bay. However, the other option is that the Bengals job is simply not appealing.Bengals owner Mike Brown is also the team’s president and de facto general manager, and therefore calls all the shots for the franchise. He did give former head coach Marvin Lewis a lengthy tenure in Cincinnati — 16 years, to be exact — but there is more to a coaching job than simply job security. The Bengals had an abysmal defense in 2018 and finished 6-10 Womens Dave Robinson Jersey , their third straight year below .500 after a string of five straight playoff appearances (but no postseason victories). Cincinnati’s personnel department also is very thin by NFL standards, employing eight individuals compared to the 18 individuals listed on the Packers’ staff. That structure and Brown’s perceived reluctance to open up his purse strings in free agency may be some reasons why an ESPN poll of league sources found the Bengals’ job to be least-appealing of the eight open head coaching positions across the NFL this offseason. The Packers, meanwhile, are tied with the Browns for first place in the same poll, likely thanks to a somewhat more standard personnel structure — and a certain quarterback named Aaron Rodgers.Whatever the reason http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-spriggs-jersey , it looks like the Packers will be the only team meeting with McDaniels this week. This suggests that the only team they would be bidding against for his services — should Mark Murphy and Brian Gutekunst decide he is the man for the job — would be his current employer.

only surpassed by loyal fans and players of our beloved city!Is heartening to see people have rallied behind our great leader, Comrade Marshal O’Brien, with team now fully united under his unerring and unending leadership. For good reason, too.Is feat rarely seen in football to have coaching staff that provides such excessive consistency on yearly basis, especially from coaching staff that has been beset by saboteurs like traitorous general manager [REDACTED] http://www.thetexanslockerroom.com/authentic-arian-foster-jersey , whose name will be ignored by history and forgotten by lunchtime hubris, same hubris that would have world believe that New York does barbecue better than Mother Houston, which is responsible for clearly delusional mindset?Far worse, comrades. Is simple laziness on DeAndre Hopkins), it will serve as means to give Diet Peyton false sense of security. While he thinks he has time to throw, malicious front seven will pop him open like soda bottle and consume him, leaving nothing left of four-and-a-half head quarterback.Pass rush should have little issue with Giants’ offensive line, especially considering they have lost starting center for season already with broken ankle. To this point, Giants’ offensive line has given up eight sacks, six of which came against Dallas, whose pass rush consists mostly of children and couple of incontinent polar bears. If that group of misfits can cause that much havoc, imagine how many sacks and disruptions finest pass rush in football will be able to muster.Giants’ defense could also be short-handed, which will only make inevitable loss to glorious Texans that much worse. As of writing Jordan Akins Jersey , Giants cornerback Apple and star defensive lineman Olivier Vernon hadn’t been to practice this week.Combine this with te traitor Connor Barwin’s nonappearance at practice (though this could just be cowardice, being unable to face team that gave him everything, which he promptly threw away), and it could be recipe for Texans to score not just usual 40 points but up total to 60 points.Victory for Texans on Sunday would put them at 3-0 on year, which would match best start to season they’ve had since last The Rams have their first lead of Sunday’s game against the Packers and they scored it in a very familiar way.Jared Goff hit running back Todd Gurley for a 30-yard touchdown pass that put the Rams up 14-13 in the third quarter. It’s the 11th straight game with a touchdown for Gurley and that ties a franchise record set by Elroy “Crazylegs” Hirsch. Gurley then added a two-point conversion to stretch the lead to three points.Gurley and the Rams offense got off to a slow start against the Packers on Sunday Kentrell Brice Jersey , but they’ve scored touchdowns on two of their last three possessions. The Packers haven’t scored a touchdown since the first quarter and Aaron Donald‘s third-down sack earlier in the quarter meant the Packers had to settle for Mason Crosby‘s second field goal of the afternoon on their first drive of the second half. The second drive ended with a punt, which means the Rams are now in position to add to a lead it took them longer than usual to get. Smith is a likely day-three or undrafted prospect with great athletic ability."Through early Monday afternoon, the Green Bay Packers had been connected to just four NFL Draft prospects who had reportedly scheduled pre-draft visits with the team. All four of those players are seen as day-one or day-two prospects Geronimo Allison Jersey , continuing general manager Brian Gutekunst’s trend of inviting several potential early-round picks to the team facilities. However, Monday afternoon also brought news of the first late-round or potentially-undrafted player who will be in Green Bay for a visit. That player is Boston College wide receiver Jeff Smith, who likely showed up on the Packers’ radar thanks to an impressive Pro Day performance a few weeks ago. Greg Auman of The Athletic first reported the news.Smith Aaron Jones Jersey , a former quarterback recruit from California, switched to receiver after his freshman year. He played a multifacted role in the Eagles’ offense over the next three years, picking up at least 296 receiving yards and more than 100 rushing yards in each of his final three seasons. However Lane Taylor Jersey , he never exceeded 30 receptions or 400 yards through the air in any one campaign. As a result, Smith’s projection to the NFL is largely due to his skill set and athleticism rather than his college production. On that note, however Blake Martinez Jersey , Smith’s Pro Day opened some eyes, as the 6-foot, 191-pound receiver was timed around 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash with a 6.87-second time in the 3-cone drill and a 4.06-second time in the short shuttle (h/t to Gil Brandt for the numbers). Those results put him well inside the typical numbers for a Packers receiver draft pick.Smith’s work at BC makes him appear to be an intriguing option as a slot receiver in particular. Many of Smith’s carries came on jet sweeps Jake Ryan Jersey , a play that the Packers seem likely to implement more under head coach Matt LaFleur. Take a look at this brief highlight package of the dynamic receiver:If the Packers end up eschewing the receiver position on the first two days of the 2019 NFL Draft for other positions, don’t be surprised if Smith ends up hearing his name called to come to Green Bay late on April 27th.

The 2018 Detroit Lions closed out their season last Sunday with a victory over the Green Bay Packers. A season of ups and (a lot of) downs came to a conclusion and another chapter in the long history of the team has been written. Here are the 10 plays that best tell the story of the 2018 Lions. Week 1: Darron Lee 36-yard interception return for a touchdownThe Lions’ season opener was a failure from top to bottom but there was no bigger goat that day than Matthew Stafford. The quarterback threw four interceptions—two to linebacker Darron Lee—as the team was dominated. A third-quarter interception returned for a touchdown by Lee extended the Jets lead to 14 and was one of four touchdowns the Jets scored in a abysmal third quarter for Detroit. This touchdown Isaac Nauta Detroit Lions Jersey , and the entire game, put a sour taste in the mouths of Lions fans. It’s a taste that ended up lasting all season for many. In a way, this play was just a harbinger of what was to come for the Lions in 2018.Week 3: Kerryon Johnson runs off left tackle for 10 yardsThe Lions Week 3 victory against the New England Patriots will remain the most memorable night of the team’s 2018 season. An 0-2 team that looked lost dominated one of the NFL’s dynasty—and did it on the ground.Detroit had not had a single 100-yard rusher in any game in over four years coming into this game. Rookie Kerryon Johnson did not take long to end that streak, though, and did it against one of the league’s historical powers. The running back was at 91 yards with just over four minutes to play. With the game seemingly in hand, Detroit handed the ball to the rookie on third-and-18. He gained 10 yards and finally eclipsed the mark and put that long running streak to bed. Johnson remained the team’s starter until a midseason knee injury sidelined him. The rookie was a star in his first season and breaking the 100-yard mark was just the first of the many records he has a chance to set as a Detroit Lion. Week 4: Dak Prescott 34-yard pass to Ezekiel ElliotAfter beating the Patriots, the Lions were on top of the world. They had put their early woes behind them Isaac Nauta Jersey 2019 , they defeated a top-tier team and their offensive line and rookie running back had been playing well. An offense that was supposed to be elite was finally showing signs of life and optimism was high among fans. Much of that hope was quickly dashed a week later when the Lions defense had no answer for Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott. He had 240 yards of total offense, and to top things off, he caught a perfect pass from quarterback Dak Prescott late in the game that put his team in position to kick a winning field goal. The Lions offense played incredibly well. Both Stafford and Golden Tate played like stars but it was not enough. Detroit had a chance to earn a huge victory, get back to 2-2 and lock up a potential wild card tiebreaker. Instead they fell to 1-3 and it felt like the season was already lost. Week 9: Danielle Hunter 32-yard fumble return for a touchdownDetroit’s lowest moment may have came in their Week 9 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The offense had a meltdown and Stafford was sacked 10 times. The quarterback was clearly shaken as the game went on and it all culminated with a boneheaded late-game decision that effectively ended the game. Stafford escaped the pocket and, in a panic, he tried to dump that ball off to his running back. The pitch was terrible and caught his teammate off guard. Danielle Hunter, the Vikings edge defender who had dominated the Lions Isaac Nauta Jersey Mens , scooped the ball up and took it the other way for a touchdown. It was incredibly fitting for Hunter to effectively end a game he dominated, and this was just another costly turnover for a quarterback having the worst stretch of his career. Week 10: Mitchell Trubisky 45-yard touchdown pass to Anthony MillerThe Lions first matchup against their division rival Chicago Bears was a defensive disaster. Detroit’s secondary seemed baffled by the Bears offense and could not cover any receivers. Trubisky finished the day with 355 yards and three touchdowns in a game where his team raced out to a quick 26-0 lead. This play was the perfect combination of everything that went wrong for them on the day. First, there were no defenders anywhere near receiver Anthony Miller. Second, once a defender got to him, a terrible tackle attempt is all he could muster. Miller threw the man off of him and waltzed into the end zone for a second-quarter touchdown. Detroit’s secondary had an awful season. A unit that is usually one of the best on the team had a lot of trouble this season and cost them dearly down the stretch.Week 12: Eddie Jackson 41-yard interception return for a touchdownWhile Detroit did lose seven of their last 10 games this season, they did have a few impressive performances. The Lions should have beaten the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. Chase Daniel was not very effective against the Lions defense. The offense had trouble moving the ball but they did have a chance to take the lead towards the end. That chance evaporated when Eddie Jackson jumped a quick out route, picked off a pass and took it for a score. Chicago went up by seven late and that lead was insurmountable for a stagnant Lions offense. This was just one of many games were Detroit had a real chance to knock off a great team but a late mistake cost them their chance.Week 13: Aaron Donald strip sacks Matthew Stafford; Rams recoverWeek 13 felt like deja vu for Detroit. For the second straight week they had a real chance to beat a good team late in the game. The defense played well but the offense could not do enough to take advantage. Once again Youth Isaac Nauta Jersey , the game was lost because of a late turnover. Detroit only trailed by three with eight minutes to play. They were around midfield with a chance to tie or win the game. Stafford dropped back and then tried to escape pressure out of the back of the pocket. While he was turned around he was stripped by defensive tackle Aaron Donald. Los Angeles recovered the fumble and put the game out of reach a few plays later.Donald absolutely dominated the game and shut down Detroit’s offense. It was one of the most impressive defensive performances ever by a single player, and it was fitting that he was the one who caused the Stafford turnover.Week 14: Darius Slay 67-yard interception return for a touchdownThe Lions’ Week 14 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals was a snooze fest. Detroit could not break the game open and the offense did not score a touchdown until late in the fourth quarter. There was one play of significance, though. In the third quarter, cornerback Darius Slay intercepted a Josh Rosen pass and took it 67 yards for a touchdown. It was the first career touchdown for the 2017 All Pro. This play also help break open a victory that had some Lions fans thinking they had an outside shot at stealing a playoff spot. Week 16: Kirk Cousins 44-yard touchdown pass to Kyle RudolphWeek 16 presented another chance for the Lions to knock off a better team. They absolutely dominated the first half against the Minnesota Vikings. Bad red zone play calling had them set to enter the half disappointingly up only 9-7, but at the last second, things got worse.Kirk Cousins threw a Hail Mary pass to close out the half and Kyle Rudolph beat everyone to the ball in the end zone for the touchdown just before the break. It was a gut punch for team who felt like they were punched in the gut almost every week. To make matters worse, it was the same end zone that Aaron Rodgers famously threw a game winning Hail Mary into a few years earlier. Week 17: Quandre Diggs intercepts Deshone KizerDetroit managed to end a terrible season on a positive note when they defeated the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field 31-0. The Lions had a stranglehold on this game from start to finish and safety Quandre Diggs’ late interception was an exclamation point.Diggs managed to high point and bring down a floating White Isaac Nauta Jersey , ill-advised throw, from the Packers backup quarterback. He then gathered the entire defense for one final victory lap around the field that was the source of so many nightmares in Detroit over the past few decades. By all accounts, this season was a failure for the Lions. Despite all of their failures, they still managed to finish the season with a sweep over their long time rival and celebrated on their field.Week 2 NFL picks: Staff predictions for Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers Last week wasn’t a good week for anyone. The Detroit Lions were embarrassed and the Pride of Detroit staff was shut out in their Week 1 predictions. Pending a tie, that’s not going to happen again. The staff is pretty split on what will happen Sunday afternoon between the Lions and the San Francisco 49ers. Health was a major factor to a 2-9 finish on the season, but the uncovering of band-aids showed some major wounds on the roster. This was particularly the case for the defense, who set record marks in futility. Whether it was against the run or pass, many usually-solid players looked lost or disinterested at times for the team. Much like it is with the label of “value picks”, “sleeper” is a subjective term. Projected round of drafting, being placed on radars because of visits, and other factors provide differing levels of prospect visibility. Here are some players who could help the Bengals’ defense in the later rounds of the upcoming NFL DraftDefensive lineThe Bengals have acquired some solid talent along the line the past couple years, particularly in the middle rounds, but the defense needs an influx of talent to make a quantum leap from last year’s deplorable rankings. Depending on the type of player profile they covet, there are some hidden gems in this class. Cortez Broughton, defensive tackle, Cincinnati: The former Bearcat is a guy more in the Geno Atkins mold, who penetrates the backfield often and impacts the passing game. He had 7.5 sacks last year, and a whopping 18.5 tackles for loss. He’s a developmental guy, but could become a nice rotational piece on rush downs for a club. With Atkins getting up there in age, grooming another defensive tackle who can get into the backfield would be wise. Albert Huggins, defensive tackle, Clemson: Lost in the formidable Tigers defensive line group comprised of Clellin Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence, Austin Bryant and Christian Wilkins is Huggins. He isn’t the pass-rush threat that Ferrell or Wilkins are, but could become a solid NFL player. He’s more of the run-stopping variety, which is okay for the Bengals, who were 29th on defense in that category last year. Cincinnati has traditionally liked to use mid and late-round picks on interior linemen, so Huggins can fit the profile. But, while Huggins shined for Lawrence during his suspension, questions linger about the impact of surrounding help on his numbers. Justin Hollins, edge Rodney Anderson Jersey 2019 , Oregon: Hollins is more of a 3-4 build (248 pounds at the Combine), but could find a niche as a rotational edge player for Cincinnati. Hollins has the build and athleticism NFL teams love from outside rushers, but his college numbers don’t really back up the potential (just 11 sacks combined the past two seasons). He is a stark contrast from the builds of the ends Marvin Lewis collected over the years, but could be a nice complementary piece to guys like Sam Hubbard and Carl Lawson. The futures of both Michael Johnson (free agent) and Jordan Willis (underachievement) with the Bengals are cloudy, so the door might be open for a late pick like Hollins. Maxx Crosby, edge, Eastern Michigan: This is another player a recent OBI listener turned us on to, and he has the tools to again be a rotational contributor at the next level. Kyle Crabbs over at The Draft Network likes some of his technique and potential, but notes that Crosby is a guy who needs to develop strength for the next level. Whether that’s for finishing plays or shedding blocks, it’s a must that he adds some bulk to his 6’5” frame. LinebackerThe Bengals seemingly shored up their inside linebacker position with their re-signing of Preston Brown, but a lack of other signings and their release of Vontaze Burfict a couple of weeks ago leaves more questions. They need guys who can play in space and defend the pass, but the group was deplorable against the run as well. While most mock drafts have the Bengals going with one of “the Devin’s” at No. 11, there are other viable options if they don’t, or decide to double-dip. Cody Barton, Utah: Despite their improvement in their draft hauls during the Marvin Lewis era from the one that preceded it, the Bengals still often tip their hand on some of their strategies. Cincinnati has shown interest in Barton by keeping close tabs on him at his recent Pro Day, so we decided to place him on this list. He had some great workout numbers and could be an interesting prospect on day three for a team that needs athletic linebackers. Barton is kind of known as a jack-of-all-trades after a solid statistical senior season. Cameron Smith, USC: Smith was a guy who was supposed to be the next in a line of great Trojan linebackers, but it never fully came to fruition. He did become a pretty solid college player, but a lack of big plays after his freshman year, and not truly living up to expectations has hurt his draft stock. He should be a pretty good pro inside linebacker, too. Smith will truly shine with a good defensive line in front of him, which would allow him to use his sound instincts to be omnipresent around the football. He’ll probably be selected in rounds three or four. Joe Giles-Harris, Duke: This kid fills the checklist of the traditional Bengals linebacker. More of a run-stopping thumper who is limited in pass coverage, Giles-Harris could still give the Bengals depth at their weakest group. He’s known as having a high football I.Q. though, so what he lacks in overall athleticism is made up by his diagnosing of plays. That only gets you so far in the NFL, though. SecondaryDavid Long, cornerback, Michigan: The last time the Bengals grabbed a high-profile corner from the Wolverines Color Rush Rodney Anderson Jersey , it worked out pretty well in the form of Leon Hall. Long isn’t the talent that Hall was, but does have some similarities in being physical and being a press coverage defensive back. He ran pretty well at the Combine with a 4.45 40-yard dash time, but his size and length brings worries. He could be a good third or fourth corner for a team early in his career and should be a third or fourth-round pick. Sheldrick Redwine, safety, Miami: People like what this kid brings from a versatility and skill set standpoint. He had three interceptions last year, showing off his former cornerback abilities as a safety. Because of the transition, there is more needed development from the standpoint of diagnosing plays and not getting lost in complicated looks from an offense. Still, as a mid-round guy, he has a lot of tools to become a solid NFL starter after he gets some pro experience under his belt. A good mix of veterans and first/second-year players gave Cincinnati a playmaking secondary that attempted to carry the rest of the unit when it faltered. A couple key moves sparked the formation of this group, and a few more are needed to maintain stability and enhance it even further than where it is now.Key players:William JacksonDre KirkpatrickDarqueze DennardShawn WilliamsJessie BatesClayton Fejedelem2019 potential free agents:Darqueze Dennard2018 SummaryAfter what would have been a breakout season in 2017 (if the national media paid attention to the Bengals) Williams Jackson took a step back in 2018. Coaching changes on the defensive side of the ball likely played a role in this, as former defensive coordinator Teryl Austin seemed to have a negative impact on the production of just about everyone around him. Dre Kirkpatrick had his ups and downs, but was at least serviceable opposite Jackson. Darqueze Dennard continued to play well in the slot corner position and saw a drop off when pushed to the outside. KeiVarae Russell and rookie Darius Phillips both were impressive when injuries to other players gave them a chance to compete. After drafting Jessie Bates in the 2nd round, the Bengals were so confident in him that they were able to move on from veteran George Iloka before the season began. This was a bit of a surprise, but once Bates took the field, there was little doubt that it was the right decision. Around the middle of the season, there was a legitimate argument for Bates as the defensive rookie of the year. Players like Minkah Fitzpatrick and Derwin James have some unique qualities that will serve them well in the NFL, but Bates was the best pure free safety from the 2018 NFL Draft class. This gave the Bengals something they desperately needed defensively. Bates was not just impressive for a rookie, but seems to be on track to establish himself as one of the leagues best. Opposite him is veteran Shawn Williams Cheap Rodney Anderson Jersey , who is more of a rock-down player. Williams continued to play at a high level in 2018. Clayton Fejedelem looked impressive when called upon to fill in at the safety position. He seems to have a knack for always being around the football.2019 Outlook and NeedJackson needs to take a step forward in 2019, make his pet pig Annabelle proud, and establish himself as one of the leagues top cornerbacks. Many fans love to hate on Kirkpatrick, but he is a decent No. 2 cornerback in the NFL. For what he’s getting paid, you’d like for him to be more consistent, but this is where we’re at. The trouble with Kirkpatrick is that his let-downs tend to be exposed and come at the worst possible times. With Jackson and Kirkpatrick, the Bengals do not have an Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters kind of duo, but they have a good pair. Think about it like this: Kirkpatrick is easily top 50 in the league at his position. With 32 teams in the league, cornerbacks ranked 33-48 would be in the top half of No. 2 cornerbacks. An upgrade would be great, but he is nowhere near the top of their list of problems. The Bengals have historically kept their cornerbacks on one side of the field and very rarely allowed Jackson to shadow a team’s best receiver. This has to change under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who was most recently a defensive backs coach. It is not even necessarily about the best player, but the best matchup. People talk all the time about matchups offensively, but defenses can dictate them as well. Kirkpatrick can cover bigger receivers well, but is not great against smaller, shiftier guys. Freeing Jackson and Kirkpatrick to follow an optimal matchup would allow the Bengals to get the most out of them.Dennard has been very good in the nickel corner role, but will soon enter free agency if the Bengals don’t re-sign him. If he enters the market, it is likely that the Bengals will not be able to get him back. The Bengals definitely should not want to overpay for Dennard, and it may be good for them to find someone who can defend more shifty slot receivers more effectively. Phillips could definitely fit the bill there, and fellow rookie Davontae Harris (who missed most of 2018 with injury) also has the skill set to play in the slot. Having said that, it is important to remember that in today’s NFL, nickel defense is base defense. This is a starter in the secondary, and a new staff putting their faith in a second-year player who has seen limited action would be a mistake. They would be wise to acquire a veteran at the position, or used an early to mid-round pick on a slot corner. The Bengals should feel pretty good about the safety position. Bates had an impressive rookie year with three interceptions and with continued growth could become one of the league’s best. Williams has been very good for the past couple of seasons as well, although this has been overlooked by many. Fejedelem is a good backup and situational player, but the Bengals could afford to add additional depth to the position,

The Tennessee Titans are back in wait-and-see mode with Marcus Mariota. The quarterback is trying to recover from a stinger that knocked him out of their last game. Mariota said Wednesday that the stinger http://www.thetitanslockerroom.com/authentic-kevin-byard-jersey , which came from a hit to his head in last week's 38-10 loss to the Colts, left him with some numbness in his throwing arm. But Mariota said the injury is not related to the nerve issue in his elbow that cost him playing time in September.Mariota also said his grip holding a ball is fine. He wore a partial glove for five games to help him grab the ball better when recovering from the injured elbow."Basically one of those deals again with the nerves," Mariota said. "Just feeling down my right arm wasn't totally there, so it's just one of those deals you just kind of got to wait and see for the nerve to calm down and things should be good."Mariota took part in individual drills Wednesday. The Titans will not issue an injury report until Thursday with their next game Monday night in Houston (7-3), though coach Mike Vrabel said Mariota was limited."We're hopeful that he'll progress as the week goes on," Vrabel said. The elbow injury kept Mariota out of the second game this season, a 20-17 victory over Houston. The Titans (5-5) desperately need a victory to pull within a game in the AFC South going into the final month of the season for a team looking for a second straight playoff berth. The No. 2 pick overall in 2015 out of Oregon has missed eight starts in his Tennessee career, though Mariota came off the bench in Week 3 in Jacksonville after backup Blaine Gabbert was knocked out of the game with a concussion. The quarterback needs only 10 more passing attempts to qualify for career completion marks in both the NFL and franchise history with at least 1,500 attempts. Once he throws his 10th pass, Mariota will top the late Steve McNair in both the highest career completion percentage in team history at 62.6 percent and passer rating at 88.5.Mariota still has his doubters on whether he's the quarterback for this franchise long-term. The Titans picked up his fifth-year option for 2019 at a price of $20.9 million, but the offense in the first season with coordinator Matt LaFleur has struggled mightily. Tennessee ranks 30th in both total offense and yards passing (183.7 yards per game). The Titans rank 28th in points scored. He's already been sacked 29 times this season 鈥?more than each of the past two seasons when he played 15 games apiece. Mariota was sacked 38 times in 12 times as a rookie playing 12 games. The Titans have an extra day of preparation and healing with the Monday night game. Mariota says he doesn't believe he needs a "whole lot" of practice to be able to play."I feel like I've played enough ball that if it comes down to it, I'm feeling good enough to go out there and play I'll be ready," Mariota said.Vrabel said they believe practice is important."Certainly there's a fine line between trying to get a guy back and practicing," Vrabel said.Notes: Titans defensive coordinator Dean Pees Malcolm Butler Jersey White , who spent Sunday night in a hospital, returned to work Tuesday. He was on the field Wednesday at practice. "He is back, and we are thankful to have him back here, and I would say healthy," Vrabel said.Follow Teresa M. Walker at teresamwalker There's nothing wrong with LeSean McCoy and Buffalo Bills' rushing attack, once they elect to stick with it.A week spent emphasizing how they weren't going to abandon the run paid off in a 13-12 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. McCoy and backup Chris Ivory played key roles in setting up Stephen Hauschka's 46-yard field goal as time expired.McCoy finished with 85 yards rushing, matching his combined total from his first three games, on a season-best 24 carries. And Ivory had 43 yards rushing, with 22 of them coming on Buffalo's 11-play, 47-yard final drive."Not by accident," coach Sean McDermott said, when asked of McCoy's 26 touches, including two catches for 23 yards. "It starts up front and then both backs played extremely well."Just like they drew it up, said McCoy."They told me they were going to get me the ball this game DaQuan Jones Jersey , that was the main focus," McCoy said. "Today we stuck with it."A week after managing 58 yards rushing in a 22-0 loss at Green Bay, the Bills racked up a season-best 141 yards against the Titans, including rookie quarterback Josh Allen's 14-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. The defense also played a key role in helping Buffalo improve to 2-3. The Bills forced three takeaways, allowed just 221 yards offense and limited the Titans to Ryan Succop hitting four field goals.Tennessee dropped to 3-2 and took a step back a week after a 26-23 overtime win over the defending Super Bowl champion Eagles."We talked about it all week, about not coming here and laying an egg," Titans safety Kevin Byard said. "But we did, and we lost, and we've got to get better."Rather than enjoy their best start in 10 years, the Titans blew a chance to take over sole possession of first place in the AFC South standings after Jacksonville (3-2) lost at Kansas City.Marcus Mariota finished 14 of 26 for 129 yards and an interception.Running back Dion Lewis and receiver Taywan Taylor lost fumbles.Other observations from the Bills' win over the Titans:THROUGH HIS HANDSThe Titans' best chance of finding the end zone slipped through their fingers early in the fourth quarter.Facing third-and-4 at Buffalo's 23, Mariota avoided the pass rush and scrambled to his left, where he lobbed to receiver Nick Williams, who was wide open in the end zone. Williams had the pass drop through his hands while attempting to make an over-the-shoulder catch.HELP FOR ALLENAllen finished 10 of 19 for 82 yards and an interception, while also learning he might be getting some veteran help. McDermott confirmed he and GM Brandon Beane have considered signing 12-year veteran quarterback Derek Anderson Womens Jonnu Smith Jersey , but stressed "nothing is final at this point."McDermott and Beane were formerly with Carolina, where they both became familiar with Anderson, who spent the previous seven seasons with the Panthers. Buffalo is down to Allen and second-year player Nathan Peterman at quarterback after trading A.J. McCarron to Oakland on Sept. 1."I'm not going to turn any help away," said Allen, who improved to 2-2 in four starts.AILING LEWANTennessee's Pro Bowl left tackle Taylor Lewan aggravated a right foot injury in the second quarter and did not return.Lewan said he first experienced pain in his foot during last season's opener. The soreness returned following last week's win over the Eagles. He said he felt "something pop" on Sunday. Lewan said initial tests show no signs of a break, and he doesn't believe it's a long-term injury.JUST FOR KICKSFor the second time in three games, Succop accounted for all of the Titans' scoring. But this time it wasn't enough.Succop made three field goals in a 9-6 win over the Jaguars two weeks ago. Against Buffalo, he converted all four attempts, including a 54-yarder to match a career best. He's now hit 13 of 14 attempts this season.TAKEAWAYSBills rookie linebacker Tremaine Edmunds forced Taylor's fumble, which led to the Bills opening-drive touchdown. Defensive end Shaq Lawson forced Lewis' fumble, which led to Hauschka hitting a 40-yard field goal to put Buffalo up 10-6.Rookie cornerback Taron Johnson jumped in front of a pass intended for Williams for his first career interception. The Bills, however, failed to come away with points after holder/punter Corey Bojorquez botched a field-goal attempt late in the second quarter.

Shaquem Griffin deservedly received the bulk of the attention when the Seattle Seahawks drafted the star linebacker with one hand in the fifth round and reunited him with his twin brother Shaquill. But aside from Griffin's selection John Lynch Jersey , general manager John Schneider and coach Pete Carroll made clear the Seahawks intent to re-establish the core tenants of how they want to play: run the ball, play aggressive defense and rely on field position. It started in the first round with the selection of San Diego State running back Rashaad Penny and continued through the nine selections made. After an eventful offseason that's seen Seattle overhaul its coaching staff and say goodbye to some key veterans, the Seahawks needed to have a successful draft. Recent drafts have been filled with more misses than hits and started to catch up with Seattle last season when the depth wasn't there to overcome key injuries."We feel like we made great decisions all the way through and we'll see how it goes. You always feel that way right after," Schneider said. Here's what else to know about Seattle's nine picks, including seven on the final day:END OF THE ROAD: The end may be near for the longest-tenured Seahawks player.Seattle traded up in the fifth round to draft Texas punter Michael Dickson, who left school early for a chance at the NFL. Dickson was regarded as the top punter available in the draft and could be a sign that Jon Ryan's tenure in Seattle is coming to an end. Ryan has been with the team since 2008 and has two years left on his contract with Seattle but counts $3.2 million against the salary cap in 2018 and $3.6 million in 2019.Both Carroll and Schneider insisted Ryan will be part of the punting competition.Dickson averaged 47.4 yards per punt as a junior, was a two-time Big 12 special teams player of the year, and was the Ray Guy Award winner in 2017. Perhaps most impressive, Dickson was the MVP of the Texas Bowl victory over Missouri after downing 10 of his 11 punts inside the 20-yard line."He can do stuff with the ball we haven't seen yet so we're really intrigued to see how that translates," Schneider said.RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM: Seattle continued to focus on improving its run game on offense by drafting Washington tight end Will Dissly in the fourth round."We thought he was the best blocker in the draft," Carroll said.Dissly arrived at Washington as a defensive end but transitioned to tight end for his final two seasons. While blocking is his strength, Dissly also had 21 receptions and two TDs as a senior. Dissly is the first Washington player drafted by the Seahawks since another tight end, Jerramy Stevens, was selected in the first round in 2002.POSTION SWITCH: It wouldn't be a Seattle draft without at least one player switching positions. But this one makes sense as the Seahawks intend to use Tre Flowers at cornerback. Flowers was primarily a safety at Oklahoma State, but his size makes him a perfect fit for cornerback in Seattle. Flowers is 6-foot-3 with long arms and has experience playing some cornerback in college.SLIDING DOWN: A gem of Seattle's draft could end up being Ohio State offensive tackle Jamarco Jones, selected late in the fifth round. Jones was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 3 offensive tackle available in the draft, but was taken with the 168th overall selection. Seattle projects Jones as a left tackle.QB CALLING: For just the second time in nine drafts, the Seahawks used a draft pick on a quarterback. Florida International QB Alex McGough was selected with Seattle's final pick http://www.buccaneerslockerroom.com/authentic-chandler-catanzaro-jersey , No. 220 overall in the seventh round. Seattle indicated this may be the year it takes a QB to develop behind Russell Wilson, the only other QB drafted by the team since 2010. McGough threw for 2,791 yards and 17 TDs as a senior, but suffered a broken collarbone in the opening minutes of FIU's bowl game in December.McGough did run some read-option in college and his mobility makes him a logical backup option to Wilson.STILL NEED: The Seahawks addressed their most pressing needs, but could still use more depth at linebacker and an offensive lineman with the ability to play center. The other area Seattle may look to target among undrafted free agents could be a bigger wide receiver, but this draft clearly defined the Seahawks are going back to relying on the run first. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (16-3)OPEN CAMP: July 25, NovaCare Complex, PhiladelphiaLAST YEAR: Won first Super Bowl title and franchise's first NFL championship since 1960, defeating Bill Belichick, Tom Brady and Patriots. Overcame losing several key players to injury, including QB Carson Wentz, LT Jason Peters, LB Jordan Hicks and others. Backup QB Nick Foles led way after Wentz tore ACL in Week 14, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Coach Doug Pederson's offense was balanced yet aggressive. Players bought into team-first attitudes. Defense thrived under coordinator Jim Schwartz. DT Fletcher Cox anchored deep line that included Super Bowl hero Brandon Graham. Special teams were solid despite losing PR Darren Sproles. Rookie K Jake Elliott showed strong leg.IMPORTANT ADDITIONS: DE Michael Bennett, DT Haloti Ngata, WR Mike Wallace, LB Corey Nelson, TE Richard Rodgers Womens Mike Evans Jersey , rookie TE Dallas Goedert.IMPORTANT LOSSES: Offensive coordinator Frank Reich, QB coach John DeFilippo, TE Trey Burton, RB LeGarrette Blount, DE Vinny Curry, CB Patrick Robinson, LB Mychal Kendricks, WR Torrey Smith, DT Beau Allen, TE Brent Celek, P Donnie Jones.CAMP NEEDS: Wentz will be closely monitored but there's no urgency to rush him with Foles still on team. His rehab will be biggest story this summer. Other key players returning from injury include Peters, Hicks, Sproles, special teams ace Chris Maragos and DT Tim Jernigan. Defense needs LB to emerge as replacement for Kendricks and CB to replace Robinson at nickel spot. Both QBs need to build chemistry with new Nos. 2-3 TEs.EXPECTATIONS: Trying to become first Super Bowl champs to repeat since 2003-04 Patriots, and anything less will be considered disappointment. Wentz, Peters and other star players who missed playoffs last year are determined to win it all and won't let teammates get complacent. Overall, team improved on paper but it'll be difficult to match unique bond last year's group had.

Tre Flowers’ first ever game as a cornerback to come Sunday in NFL debut The Seattle Seahawks placed Dontae Johnson on IR on Saturday Shaquem Griffin Jersey , leaving them with these five cornerbacks after a corresponding roster move: Shaquill Griffin, Justin Coleman, Tre Flowers, Neiko Thorpe, and Akeem King. As expected, unless the Seahawks thought that their next-best option at outside corner was the guy they just pulled off the practice squad, Seattle is going to start Flowers opposite of Griffin. Thus far in his football career, Flowers has only been a safety on the defensive side of the ball. He’s going to play his first game at corner as a starter against Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, and/or Courtland Sutton. It’s a hell of a way to make an introduction. While I can’t say for sure that Flowers did not play corner in high school, he was always listed as a safety recruit. During four years and 51 games at Oklahoma State, Flowers only played safety. The Seahawks selected Flowers in the fifth round this year, fully intending to move him to cornerback due to his 6’3 http://www.seahawkslockerroom.com/authentic-doug-baldwin-jersey , 202 lb, 33.75” arms measurements with a 4.45 40, 33” vertical, and 10’2 broad jump. Theoretically that transition would be most ideal if it’s taking place over the course of a year and a half while learning and growing behind a more experienced starter, which is why the team brought in players like Byron Maxwell and Johnson and had a workout with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, but Maxwell and Johnson got hurt and clearly DRC didn’t wow them. Now it’s on Flowers to show if he’s that fast of a learner and at least capable of not getting beat with any damaging consistency. You would have to at least think that Pete Carroll wouldn’t put him out there if he thought that there was a high probability of that; the curve here has obviously been much different than their attempted transition of Mike Tyson, a sixth round safety-turned-corner a year ago who could not stick with the team in either of the last two seasons. At this point, it’s no a longer a question of “if” Flowers can start. He’s starting. Now we wait to find out if he can start next week. And the week after. Or if Seattle’s corner search continues. That wasn’t really the ideal set of winners from this past weekend’s AFC and NFC Conference Championship games, was it? The two outcomes almost made me give Enemy Reaction a skip this weekend, but I said I was going to do one for each playoff round after the Seattle Seahawks were eliminated, and occasionally I’m a man of my word. We’re going to do things a bit differently this time around. As awesome as both games were (and as undesirable as both results turned out to be), I’m truncating this to focus primarily on the referees and the controversial calls and non-calls (and one correct call!) made in the fourth quarters of Rams-Saints and Patriots-Chiefs. It’s just not an easy transition. In college, a lot of receivers are facing guys that will never sniff an NFL roster. Often times receivers are facing off coverage in college. There are plenty of occurrences where these guys aren’t in realistic situations that they see on Sundays. The injury didn’t do rookie Dante Pettis any favors. When he returned, he was the San Francisco 49ers clear number one threat. One thing that I feel like the football watching crowd doesn’t do a good enough job of explaining is that just because a player wasn’t targeted, doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good play. Pettis is a great example of this. Against the Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers especially DeForest Buckner Jersey White , Pettis had routes where he made the corner look silly. On a 12-yard curl, I saw him make a corner literally fall against Tampa Bay. On a simple 10-yard in route against Bradley Roby, Pettis made the now Houston Texan’s knees buckle. He’s fascinating to watch.Rare rookie numbersThe production Pettis put up when he was targeted was nothing short of impressive. In 40 targets Pettis scored five touchdowns. 33 of those targets came with backup QBs. Scoring a touchdown once every eight targets is unheard of. To do so without the starting quarterback screams that Pettis has a bright future ahead of him.Pettis finished the year with 27 receptions.19 of those went for a first down.Look through some previous rookie year numbers. You’re not going to find this type of production. Credit Kyle Shanahan for moving Pettis around. Credit Pettis for being able to win at every level of the field. Check out some of these routes. He was really, really good last year:Sophomore slump?Injuries. That’s what will slow Pettis down. You will usually see players make their biggest jump from year one to year two. If the 49ers are going to make some noise and be the offense that everyone hopes Richard Sherman Jersey White , Pettis has to stay healthy. He’s the only true perimeter threat that can consistently win 1-on-1 on the roster. That will likely change with the draft. I fear that Pettis may have spoiled Niner fans and they will expect whoever the team selects to come in and be just as productive in year one. That’s just not a realistic expectation. Thinking Pettis can be a true number one receiver in year two is, though.

For those of you who have forgotten football still exists, these are the things you read to spurn the thoughts ruminating in your head. This mock draft is by Houston’s own Lance Zierlein. It’s his first one. He has the Texans taking a left tackle. The same one Dan Kadar mocked Houston to take. Zierlein had the following to say about the Texans adding Greg Little (OT—Ole Miss):I don’t know anything about this class. What LZ is saying may be true about it being easier to find quality corners outside the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. I still feel better about Houston’s offensive line than most Womens Corey Moore Jersey , but I do want additional competition at the position, and the Texans need to direct their efforts to upgrade the secondary. What’s also interesting are the other players selected in this mock who could be in the mix for Houston. Lance has offensive tackles Jawaan Taylor going 11th, Jonah Williams 14th, and Andre Dillard 16th.He has defensive backs Greedy Williams as the first DB off the board at 13th, DeAndre Baker 29th Womens Jeff Allen Jersey , and Byron Murphy going 32nd. If you are looking to watch on future Texans prospects, these lads are a good place to start.

The Delaware product had a good start to the Senior Bowl and his last name already carries weight in Green Bay."In grading the Green Bay Packers’ positional units on defense in 2018 Womens Dave Robinson Jersey , the safety position is right near the top as one of the team’s biggest problem areas to fix this offseason. An early release of Jermaine Whitehead and mid-season trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix further depleted the team of depth as injuries took their toll on Kentrell Brice, Ibraheim Campbell, and other members of the secondary. There is little doubt that Green Bay will address safety this spring and one way they could do so is through the draft. And one way to add to the safety unit is a relative of NFL Hall of Famer and Packer legend Herb Adderley. That would be Nasir Adderley, a free safety from Delaware. Adderley’s grandfather’s cousin was the legendary Herb, a cornerback on the Packers’ first two Super Bowl-winning teams. Nasir has been a star in his own right at the NCAA FCS level with nine interceptions over the past two seasons for the Blue Hens.Currently, Adderley has been given a day-two grade from many scouts http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-jason-spriggs-jersey , but an impressive NFL Combine could vault him into the first round. He started off his Senior Bowl invite on the right foot this week, earning praise from NFL Draft guru Todd McShay as a “ball-hawking free safety.” At 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds, Adderley plays bigger than his size and can high-point a ball in coverage. Helping his cause is his versatility to play slot cornerback at the next level, after seeing plenty of one-on-one matchups as a collegiate player, and special teams with experience as a returner and gunner at Delaware. However, as a pro in Green Bay Womens Jimmy Graham Jersey , he would primarily be counted on to fill the deep half of the secondary once occupied by Clinton-Dix.Although he has somewhat of a thin build, Adderley stands out on tape for his physicality. In many ways, he brings the same aggressiveness that Jaire Alexander showed in Green Bay as a rookie. While Adderley may seek unnecessary contact while taking on blockers in pursuit of the ball, he is a force when he hits the ballcarrier. A high motor and ability to track down runners in the open field was also evident when watching Adderley as a senior. On top of his more-than-willing desire to tackle, Adderley has been reliable as a single-high safety covering center field. His ability to read and react quickly to cover ground and get to the intended receiver is a trait NFL teams will covet. Against North Dakota State, the FCS champion Bryan Bulaga Jersey White , Adderley’s area of the field was rarely targeted. And when he was? Adderley jolted the receiver as the ball arrived for an incompletion on one play and almost jumped a route in single coverage for an interception on another. With highlight-reel interceptions and an all-around skillset, Adderley would be an excellent piece for the Packers to begin building around at safety. With Josh Jones returning as a potential in-the-box safety, Green Bay could be scanning the market for more of an upgrade at the free position. While Adderley’s level of competition will be lower than other draft prospects in the latter end of round one and early part of round two, his ability should translate just as well to the NFL. After all, the Packers did very well when they selected another FCS safety in round two of the 2005 draft in Nick Collins. If the cards fall right, perhaps another small-school product and another Adderley will be making his name in Green Bay next season. Perry’s inability to remain healthy proves his ultimate undoing in Green Bay"To quote the old kids’ show Phineas and Ferb http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-kentrell-brice-jersey , “Hey, where’s Perry?”Soon it won’t be in Green Bay, Wisconsin.Even with the addition of edge rushers Za’Darius Smith and Preston Smith, the Green Bay Packers were planning on releasing veteran outside linebacker Nick Perry per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.The Packers signed Perry to a five-year $60 million contract after a breakout 2016 season, but thanks to injuries and poor performance he never came close to living up to the money Green Bay gave him. After racking up 11 sacks in 14 games in 2016, Perry had seven sacks in 12 games in 2017 before a miserable 1.5 sacks in nine games last season when he finished the year on injured reserve.Perry’s contract was one of the final big misfires of Ted Thompson’s tenure as Packers general manager.Perry’s cap hit was $10.75 million last season and increases this season to $14.4 million. The Packers could save $3.3 million against the cap by releasing him now or $10.7 million if they release him June 2. Regardless Justin McCray Jersey , Perry’s time in Green Bay comes to an end with a total of 32 sacks in 81 games played. It’s not the conclusion Perry nor the Packers envisioned when he was the team’s first round pick in 2012.Unfortunately he couldn’t stay healthy enough to consistently contribute and now he will take his talents elsewhere.

ALLEN PARK Womens Levine Toilolo Jersey , Mich. (AP) — A day after their first win of the season, the change in the mood of the previously winless Detroit Lions was evident. In one corner of the locker room, linebacker Marquis Flowers and running back LeGarrette Blount engaged in a heated debate over whether Kobe Bryant or LeBron James was the greater basketball player.“Just coming in today, it was a little bit different,” Lions wide receiver Golden Tate said. “It’s kind of a sigh of relief.”Winning has a way of lifting the tension. Especially considering the quality of the opponent that the Lions beat.Sunday’s decisive 26-10 victory over the New England Patriots was fashioned by a smothering performance from the Lions defense. The Lions held the Patriots to 209 yards, the fewest they’ve allowed since holding the New York Giants to 197 yards on Sept. 8, 2014.“To finally get our first win, against a team like that Eli Harold Jersey , that’s a yearly contender for the Super Bowl, it’s a pretty big deal,” Tate said.It was only the third time since 2007 that the Patriots produced fewer than 210 yards.Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who led the NFL with 4,577 yards passing last season, was limited to 133 yards.“That is amazing,” Lions cornerback Darius Slay said. “That is really amazing.”In the first quarter, Detroit held a 126-5 edge in yards and a 12:30-2:30 advantage in time of possession. The first three drives of the game saw Detroit outgain the Patriots 196-13 and hold a 14-0 edge in first downs. The Lions outgained the Patriots 231-70 in the first half.“We couldn’t execute anything T.J. Jones Jersey White ,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said.Lions running back Kerryon Johnson, who finished with 16 carries for 101 yards and became the first Lions running back to record a 100-yard rushing game since Reggie Bush against Green Bay on Nov. 28, 2013, felt the defensive performance was what keyed the win.“I think the defense was a lot more impressive than we were,” Johnson said. “They had to shut down Tom Brady.”Slay preferred to view their success story as a team effort.“This was really all about the offense controlling the ball and keeping us rested,” Slay said. “The best game plan against Tom Brady is keeping him off the field, and the offense kept putting up long drives.”The Lions also handed much of the credit to coach Matt Patricia, the former Patriots defensive coordinator who earned his first win as an NFL head coach.“He made everything smooth this week Womens Darius Slay Jersey ,” Slay said. “He knows everything about that team and he made sure we knew it as well.”Patricia wasn’t about to take the pat on the back without returning it to his players.“A week ago, the story was completely different as I stood here,” Patricia said. “It was a good collective team effort. I think everybody that had a significant role, I thought they did a good job.”Improving to 1-2 on the season while handing the defending AFC champion Patriots (1-2) their second straight loss, the Lions said it won’t matter if they don’t carry the momentum into Sunday’s game at Dallas against the Cowboys.“Now that we have this win, it means nothing if we don’t come back this week and have a great week of practice and go out there and handle business on the road against another good opponent,” Tate said.“We’re happy we got that first win, but now we’ve got to put that game to bed. Now we’ve got to prepare like we did last week for the Dallas Cowboys on the road. Try to hit restart and go do it again.” Every year Womens Tavon Wilson Jersey , the media tries to pull overarching lessons about the NFL or the future of the game based on that year’s Super Bowl winner. Typically that’s a little reductive and overly simplistic. Just because one team won the championship a certain way does not mean that it’s the only way to build a Super Bowl-winning team. No matter what anyone tells you, they don’t know the future of the game. But Chris Burke of The Athletic put together an interesting piece (subscription required) about some things the Detroit Lions may have learned over the weekend, seeing as they’re currently building their team much like the Patriots have in New England.Burke lays out five lessons the Lions can take, most of which are good news for Lions fan. I won’t lay them all out here since the article is behind a paywall, but some include: pass rush doesn’t have to come from the edge (see: linebackers), fullbacks can still have a role in today’s NFL and a solid tight end/slot receiver is invaluable. Happy 31st birthday, Matthew Stafford! Here are five stats that all basically say the same thing: You’ve thrown the ball a heck of a lot over your career: The NFL released a list of the 338 players that will participate in the 2019 NFL Combine, including quarterback Kyler Murray. Dave Birkett has a list of the local guys that got invites: Lions safety Glover Quin was the 2018 winner of the Media Good Guy award Tavon Wilson Jersey White , as voted on by the Detroit Sport Media. Glover spent the full 45 minutes of media availability one day a week to answer any and all questions, with no exceptions. Personally speaking, I think Ricky Jean Francois also deserves some recognition for being available nearly every day, even when things weren’t going well. Is Kerryon Johnson the best Lions running back since Barry Sanders? Birkett looked at the history between the two eras to see if it’s true. It appears Lions head coach Matt Patricia was hanging out with Bill Belichick in Atlanta this weekend. (Note: It’s not 100 percent clear if this photo was taken this year, but considering the “Atlanta” caption and the timing of the post—Thursday afternoon—it seems like a safe assumption. Although, it is Throwback Thursday...) How will the Lions fill their desperate need for at least one tight end? Lions Wire’s Zack Moran debates the value of signing a free agency versus getting one in the draft.

VANCOUVER Authentic Stephen Johns Jersey , British Columbia (AP) — Vancouver Canucks center Bo Horvat credited veteran goalie Jacob Markstrom with Saturday’s win over the Calgary Flames.Markstrom stopped 44 of 47 shots and put up three more saves in the shootout, leading Vancouver to a 4-3 victory over the Flames.“We couldn’t have done it without Marky tonight,” Horvat said. “He was absolutely sensational, made key saves at unbelievable times of the hockey game and he was a stud in the shootout again. So big credit to him.”Several of his teammates agreed.“I think (the Flames) were the better team overall, but Marky played really good and kept us in the game,” said Vancouver’s star rookie, Elias Pettersson, who had a pair of assists and put away the shootout winner.A pair of the goalie’s most memorable stops came against one of the league’s top talents.Johnny Gaudreau streaked into the Canucks’ end on a breakaway with just five seconds to go in the first period and released a blistering shot, but Markstrom snatched the puck out of the air.He repeated the feat late in the third, once again robbing the Flames winger of a goal with a stunning glove save.“Man Youth Tyler Pitlick Jersey , (Markstrom) was dialed in tonight. What am I going to say? He was awesome tonight,” Canucks coach Travis Green said.Markstrom was humble about stopping Gaudreau, who’s in the race for the title of the league’s top scorer with 75 points this season.“It was one of those things where you’re just trying to make the read and I got the right read and I was fortunate enough to stop it,” Markstrom said.He credited his teammates with playing hard and making sure he was able to keep track of the puck throughout the game.“They really pinned us down in the second,” he said. “But I thought everybody really played for each other. We stood up good when they had pressure coming toward the net.”Horvat, Josh Leivo and Brock Boeser scored for Vancouver in regulation.Sam Bennett, Elias Lindholm and Andrew Mangiapane scored for Calgary.Mangiapane’s second-period goal was his first NHL goal.“It was definitely nice. It was a little longer than I would have liked, but I felt like our line was hemming them in there in the second period and (Noah Hanifin) picked it up and made a nice pass over to me,” said Mangiapane, who made his NHL debut in early December. “So it was definitely a good feeling and nice to get it out of the way.”The goal came when the Flames had Markstrom under siege Tyler Seguin Jersey , outshooting the Canucks 17-1.“The bench was electric when he scored and that was a wonderful shift by the (Derek) Ryan line there. They really worked hard and hemmed them in and had a quality shift,” Flames coach Bill Peters said. “That’s a proud moment, something he will never forget.”David Rittich had 22 saves for the Flames and made two stops in the shootout. The victory snapped a three-game losing skid for the Canucks. It was the second straight loss for the Flames, who hadn’t lost back-to-back games since Dec. 22.But Peters said there was a lot to like about how his team played Saturday.“Definitely had some good looks. There’s not a lot of big changes to be made. Power play needed to get one. We had our opportunities for sure. There was some good looks we have to cash in,” he said.Vancouver’s win keeps the team firmly entrenched in a battled for a Western Conference wild-card spot. The squad knows that every game is crucial going forward, Markstrom said.“Points are going to be hard to come by,” he said. “We’ve got to battle hard for 65-plus minutes. And we did it tonight. Which is a nice win.”NOTES: The Canucks confirmed on Saturday that left-winger Sven Baertschi will be out of the lineup indefinitely. Coach Travis Green said he is suffering from post-concussion syndrome. The team is also missing backup goalie Thatcher Demko, who is out with a knee sprain, and defenseman Alex Edler, who has a concussion. … Calgary’s James Neal was missing some teeth after Saturday’s contest. An official collected at least two teeth from the ice after the left-winger caught a high-stick from Vancouver’s Alex Biega midway through the third period. Biega was handed a four-minute penalty for the play.UP NEXTFlames: At Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.Canucks: Host San Jose Sharks on Monday. ANNAPOLIS Anthony Duclair Jersey Womens , Md. (AP) Shortly before he walked outside Friday at Navy’s Memorial Stadium, Mike Babcock said: ”Hang on to your hat.”Babcock’s Toronto Maple Leafs and the Washington Capitals might want to hang on to everything with high wind in the forecast for Saturday night’s outdoors Stadium Series game at the U.S. Naval Academy. The storm knocking out power and disrupting travel up and down the East Coast forced both teams to practice indoors Friday, where they were left to contemplate what sustained winds of 15-20 mph and gusts as high as 32 mph might have on their game.”I have no idea,” Maple Leafs center Tyler Bozak said. ”Hopefully we’re skating with the wind more than we are against it.”The wind is enough of a factor that the game could be postponed to Sunday. The glass had to be removed from the on-field rink because of safety concerns. The NHL has played 24 previous regular-season outdoor games and this one could easily see the worst conditions when it comes to wind. Temperatures just above freezing would not rank it among the coldest, but there are concerns how the wind could make a real difference.”I haven’t played in anywhere it’s been super windy,” said Maple Leafs winger James van Riemsdyk, who will be taking part in his fifth outdoor game. ”It’ll definitely make a unique dynamic, I know. It seems like in today’s game there’s lots of high flips and stuff like that, so it’ll be interesting to see how the puck reacts getting flipped in the air and a gust of wind comes up.”Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby thinks strong wind would only possibly affect dump-ins or high flips of the puck and that it could make it difficult for players to keep their eyes open when it’s head on. Maple Leafs goaltender Frederik Andersen is more concerned for the skaters – and that’s a shared concern.”If you have a turnover and you’ve got to backcheck, that’s probably when it’s going to be a little tough Chris Kreider Jersey ,” Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom said.NHL players are more accustomed to climate-controlled arenas – a long way from their younger days when playing on frozen ponds or lakes meant dealing with the conditions.”It won’t feel good on your body, that’s for sure,” Toronto forward Mitch Marner said. ”It probably won’t help with the puck or anything like that.”Capitals coach Barry Trotz was more worried when the wind rumbled around trees outside his house Thursday night and joked about a coin toss to pick directions like a football game.Previous outdoor games have included teams changing ends at the 10-minute mark of the third period to negate an unfair wind advantage. At the least, that’s likely, and players are prepared for the wind even though they don’t know exactly what it’ll do.”The wind wouldn’t be ideal, but part of playing these games is you have to deal with the weather,” Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly said. ”She was a little windy out there (Friday), but hopefully she clears up a little bit for us.”Rielly, who played outdoors on New Year’s Day in Ann Arbor, Michigan Henrik Lundqvist Jersey Kids , in 2014 and again in Toronto in 2017, figures wind would be more difficult to deal with than snow. But the 23-year-old has a sunny disposition about wacky weather.”It definitely has an impact on the game,” Rielly said. ”But that’s all part of the experience. Players, two teams have to deal with it. It’s not going to change the game plan or anything. It’s just going to make it a little bit more difficult and it might be kind of fun.”—
