One more weekend remains in the football season with Super Bowl LIII set to kickoff Sunday evening in Atlanta. The Senior Bowl has come and gone and the NFL Combine is less than a month away. Since it’s Friday Womens David Bakhtiari Jersey , it seemed like a good time for another round of Packers musings but with a draft-themed twist. Much has been made about the Packers’ draft possibilities with two picks in the first round. But Green Bay’s bread and butter when most successful has been its ability to identify contributors in the middle and late rounds. Today’s article features three potential candidates Green Bay could consider outside of round one in the 2019 NFL Draft, adding on to what appears to be a promising group of mid-round picks a year ago.Deebo Samuel, WR, South CarolinaGreen Bay’s lack of a slot receiver has been noted in the early part of this offseason, especially with Randall Cobb’s expiring contract. I still think that the Packers explore under-the-radar veterans in free agency, but, in the event that they do not, there are many draftable prospects to consider. Yes, Green Bay selected three receivers a year ago, but none are true slot receivers. One player who has some similarities to Cobb is Samuel, a dynamic SEC receiver. The knock on the South Carolina product is injury, as Samuel suffered a broken leg in week three of the 2017 season. After a slow start to his senior season comeback, Samuel began to showcase his talents once again. Like Cobb Kentrell Brice Jersey White , Samuel can play outside if needed but would be more dangerous from the slot as a six-foot target. He has a thicker frame than Cobb with a similar level of physicality, but breaks more tackles after the catch than Cobb showed in his younger years. Samuel also has kick return experience and would give Green Bay immediate help in that department.A good showing at the Senior Bowl increased Samuel’s status. But still within day-two range, Samuel could be an explosive threat in an innovative offense with his route-running and separation skills.Tyree Jackson, QB, BuffaloUnder Ron Wolf, the Packers’ philosophy was to draft a signal caller on a near-yearly basis. However, Green Bay has selected a quarterback just once since the 2012 season, drafting Brett Hundley in 2015. While they have had stability at the position and traded for DeShone Kizer last year, the Packers could be in line to begin that trend once again.I could see Jackson being a late riser as draft season progresses, but he’s currently a boom-or-bust third-day prospect. With a large build reminiscent of former Tampa Bay quarterback Josh Freeman, Jackson has strength as a runner and a powerful arm. As an overall passer, Jackson remains a bit raw and will need NFL coaching over time to fix mechanical issues with his slower release that leads to accuracy issues.Jackson could have used another year in college and was set to be a prime graduate transfer candidate. Instead, he will begin to state his case at the NFL Combine to be selected within the first three rounds. If not Womens Josh Jackson Jersey , Jackson would be an intriguing developmental prospect with Aaron Rodgers etched in as the Packers’ long-term starter under center. Isaac Nauta, TE, GeorgiaAs a College Football Playoff squad, the Georgia Bulldogs had ample marquee television opportunities in 2018. And while Georgia has many future NFL talents - Jake Fromm, Deandre Baker, and Riley Ridley among others - one that consistently made big plays when most needed in the games I watched was Nauta, an early entry.Whether Green Bay keeps Jimmy Graham or not, it will need depth at tight end. Nauta improved significantly as a run blocker during his time with the Bulldogs, using his long arms to his advantage as a pass blocker as well. He has enough speed to stretch the field and his physicality as a runner and receiver made him a trustworthy target for Fromm. While many evaluators wonder if he will be able to separate at the next level, Nauta could be an excellent blocker at the position at the very least. Currently, Nauta could be a steal in the realm of rounds three or four. At first glance, sizing up players from two separate sports may seem like comparing apples to oranges. But in the case of former Milwaukee Brewer Jonathan Schoop and current Green Bay Packers tight end Jimmy Graham, the two former stars draw interesting similarities. Both players are former All-Pros/All-Stars who have come up incredibly short of expectations during their brief season stints with their respective Wisconsin squads. For Schoop Womens Clay Matthews Jersey , it was a .202 batting average and .577 OPS, paired with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of almost 6:1 over about a quarter of a season. His lack of power also was a minus for a team seeking run production at the time of his acquisition. For Graham, the numbers on paper are not nearly as bad with 581 yards and 11.9 yards-per-reception. However, the lack of production in the red zone with only a couple of touchdowns and a year-long inability to get on page with Aaron Rodgers is the kicker. Graham’s drops over the past few weeks — or at least missing on catchable passes that should have been made by a player earning his salary — have shown a player that is just a shade of his former self. Graham’s steady decline in athleticism and gaining separation from defenders also is noticeable.Though the sample size of Graham’s fit in Green Bay will be greater than that of Schoop’s to Milwaukee, the offensive shortcomings of both players have put each of their teams in tough offseason predicaments. The Milwaukee Brewers had to make a difficult decision to part ways with Schoop after being on the hook for an estimated $10 million in arbitration with one year left of team control. Despite the hefty prospect trade price the Brewers made to acquire Schoop, General Manager David Stearns decided Schoop’s production simply did not justify the anticipated contract, even on a one-year basis. Milwaukee cut its losses by non-tendering Schoop and is in the process of moving on and trying to find a better fit at second base.Green Bay signed Jimmy Graham to a three-year deal that, like Schoop, will pay him around $10 million annually. However, unlike the Schoop situation, a sure-fire fill-in is not right around the corner for the Packers. The Brewers have top prospect Keston Hiura, but there really is not a replacement for Graham unless the Packers see Robert Tonyan as a long-term developmental piece. Reserves Marcedes Lewis and Lance Kendricks also appear to be headed for free agency, making the tight end position a priority for re-shaping in the offseason regardless of a Graham return. Rob Demovsky of ESPN recently broke down the financial ramifications if Graham is released following the season. While the Packers surely could move on from Graham Marcedes Lewis Jersey White , over $7 million in dead money is a lot to eat up for Green Bay. Green Bay could be better served to give Graham another offseason with Rodgers and build chemistry for 2019 before cutting him loose in 2020. That option would free up the final $8 million of Graham’s contract and give Green Bay the chance to see their plunge in free agency fully play out. Like Schoop, the Packers would be betting on a one-year improvement and a get-me-over until the team’s next tight end can be drafted or signed. While the cash-strapped Brewers ultimately chose to seek a quality replacement at a lower risk and cost, the Packers will have plenty of money to play with in spring with their number of expiring contracts. Giving Graham a second chance is feasible.Unfortunately, both the Packers and Brewers have struck out more than they have hit home runs with Graham and Schoop. Making matters worse is that the players that were seemingly upgraded with both acquisitions — Jordy Nelson and Jonathan Villar — arguably would have brought more production, as neither Graham or Schoop looked fully comfortable in their new roles. The Brewers avoided spending money to move on without Schoop, but the Packers would still have to absorb a cap hit with Graham. But after a disappointing year, it may be time for the Packers to build their new offense without a disappointing contract, taking a roster-building lesson from the Brewers.
