Kramer in particular illustrates the near-perfect

The conclusion of the NFL season means that it’s time once again for mock drafts to begin in earnest for the 2019 NFL Draft. On Thursday morning Justin Vogel Jersey White , ESPN’s Todd McShay published his latest mock for April’s upcoming draft, which featured the Green Bay Packers selecting a pair of linebackers in round one. However, despite the Packers’ needs on the edge, the first pick is an off-ball linebacker instead. First up, with the Packers on the clock at 12 overall, McShay projects them to select LSU linebacker Devin White:The only part that I really agree with in this rationale is the first half of the first sentence: the Packers want an edge rusher. With three excellent ones still on the board — Clelin Ferrell, Jachai Polite, and Montez Sweat — I can’t see the Packers going for an off-ball linebacker instead, even if White is a great prospect. To illustrate this point, let’s look at where the Packers have drafted off-ball linebackers since Ted Thompson’s arrival as GM in 2005:2018: Oren Burks (3rd round)2016: Blake Martinez (4th round)2015: Jake Ryan (4th round)2013: Sam Barrington (7th round)2012: Terrell Manning (5th round)2011: D.J. Smith (6th round)2007: Desmond Bishop (6th round)2006: A.J. Hawk (1st round), Abdul Hodge (3rd round)2005: Brady Poppinga (4th round)The Packers have a type and a value on their off-ball linebackers Womens Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey , and it’s simply not a position they have prioritized highly in the past. Besides, given the fact that Martinez has one starting job locked down and the investment made in Burks (the team’s highest-drafted off-ball linebacker since Hawk), the need is far, far less pressing than that on the edge. The better bet here is that the Packers double up on outside linebackers rather than taking an off-ball linebacker this high.Is White a good player? Yes, and he’s likely to be a good pro. But so are those edge rushers, all of whom would likely make a much bigger impact in Green Bay given the need and the defensive system the team runs under Mike Pettine. As for the 30th pick, McShay does have the Packers picking a player on the edge: Old Dominion’s Oshane Ximines. Here’s McShay’s reasoning:Interestingly, Ximines appears to be built similarly to Matthews coming out of college. He measured in just over 6-foot-3 and weighed 241 pounds at the Senior Bowl, numbers that put him right on par with Matthews’ size at the Combine. However, Ximines is unlikely to test on par with Matthews, who had an excellent Combine workout. Perhaps if the draft board fell the way it did in McShay’s mock http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-demetri-goodson-jersey , the Packers would be inclined to trade up with the Seahawks at 21 and land Jachai Polite instead. Then again, Ximines might be worthy of a first-round grade just based on his Taco Bell menu preferences: We mourn the passing of a Lombardi legend; meanwhile, Matt LaFleur explains that he isn’t thinking about the recent reports of past turmoil in Green Bay."It has been a sad weekend for members of the 1960s-era Green Bay Packers. One of the best and most crucial members of the Vince Lombardi championship teams from that era passed away a few days ago. Forrest Gregg, the team’s stalwart right tackle for over a decade, dealt with Parkinson’s Disease for many years and has passed at the age of 85.Gregg was every bit as important to those championship teams as anyone else, and his impact can be felt best by hearing what his teammates have to say about him. And while some of those teammates had to wait years before getting the call to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Gregg’s career put him there in his first year of eligibility. While we remember a legend, Packers fans also are looking ahead to the 2019 season. So too is new head coach Matt LaFleur, who finally weighed in for the first time on the recent drama surrounding his team, his quarterback, and his predecessor. If LaFleur is worried about any of that Muhammad Wilkerson Jersey White , he certainly isn’t showing it and he certainly won’t say so. Instead, he’s saying exactly what one would expect: that he’s focused on his own relationship with Aaron Rodgers rather than worrying at all about what happened in the past.Packers great Forrest Gregg dies at 85 | Packers.comGregg, the Hall of Fame right tackle for Vince Lombardi's teams in the 1960s, passed away on Friday. He and Bart Starr played nearly their entire careers together, and Gregg even served as the Packers' offensive line coach during his final two years playing for the team.Forrest Gregg earned respect, confidence of Packers teammates | Green Bay Press-GazetteSeveral of Gregg's teammates, including Jerry Kramer and Dave Robinson, weighed in on the career of their teammate. Kramer in particular illustrates the near-perfect level of communication between the two on the right side of the line.Matt LaFleur, Aaron Rodgers begin their Packers partnership | SI.comLaFleur discusses the first speech that he gave to the Packers as a team last Monday (saying that it was "nerve-racking" at first), and he also talks about his early interactions with Rodgers. The two got dinner after the NFL Meeting in Arizona last month, and he says he "(doesn't) really care what happened" in the past http://www.packerslockerroom.com/authentic-deshone-kizer-jersey , focusing on moving forward to 2019.How Zach Allen plans to be a pass-swatting menace like J.J. Watt in NFL - SBNation.comBoston College’s Zach Allen is an intriguing prospect, whose big 6-foot-4 frame offers him the length to get up and knock down passes. However, there’s much more to that ability than simply height -- there’s definitely an art to it.Packers should learn from the past, invest in edge depth early | Packers WireThis echoes what I have been saying for weeks now, ever since the Packers signed the Smiths in free agency: EDGE should still be a priority in the draft, because you can never have enough good pass rushers.Mother, son arrested after chaos ensues in Eau Claire Walmart | WEAU.comThe woman did karate moves, the son took all his clothes off, and the dog stole cornbread mix.
