Franck Muller Long Island Evolution: improved expression for the modern era
When Franck Muller's Long Island watch first hit the market in 2000, it was hailed as a true homage to the Art Deco movement with its curved rectangular case and rectilinear arched numerals. This is an elegant, innovative take on the Novecento style. More than twenty years later, this famous series has been reconfigured and revived with the Franck Muller Long Island Evolution.
The brand's Long Island Evolution watch, launched exclusively in the Asia-Pacific region, comes in three unique styles, namely Master Jumper, Giga Tourbillon and 7 Day Power Reserve models. Each one is its own rare type.
The design of the Nagashima case has been modernized while retaining its classic silhouette. In the inner case, the first thing the wearer may notice is the anodized aluminum in a beautiful pine green color.
For the first time ever, an internal sapphire crystal is also integrated into the inner bezel, giving the watch even more mechanical depth. Juxtaposed with it is a titanium case treated with black PVD. Tying it all together is a matte black alligator strap with contrast stitching and edges in the same pine green hue.
In terms of construction, Franck Muller has added another layer of shock protection and security to the shaped movement, which is present in all three watches. Of course, each model has its own unique style.
The Master Jumper features a new vertical isometric jump display with three windows arranged in a column in the middle of the case. Meanwhile, the Long Island Evolution Giga Tourbillon’s large tourbillon cage (featuring an extra-large 20 mm tourbillon cage) is stunning even from a distance.
The third three-hand watch in the series is equipped with our hand-wound FM 1745 movement in a fully skeletonized design, culminating in the Long Island Evolution 7-day power reserve watch. These three watches are all masterpieces of Franck Muller’s technical and aesthetic prowess. There are indeed some appropriate tributes.
